Script 22: Curtain call

Yunjin huffs as she realizes why.

Because Chaewon brought the same things, too.

When she came in to check up on Yunjin earlier, the pain and the guilt were still evident in her actions and eyes.

The pain was seeping through the cracks of her soul, and Yunjin couldn't bear to see her.

Whenever Yunjin looked at her, she would see Chaewon crying and angry in front of the beach.

And Yunjin would feel the sun, the sand, and the tears in her eyes with that.

It's like she's being pulled back to relive that day over and over.

She is brought back to reality when she hears the door opening. Yunjin didn't know why she was expecting it to be Chaewon, but she knew it wasn't her.

"You feeling alright, bud?"

It was honestly a relief to hear Yeonjun's voice for some reason. Yunjin calmly sighs. She doesn't turn her head to look at him or at anyone he's with.

"Aside from the leg and arm pain, doing fine." She responds plainly.

"We won, did you hear?" Yunjin hears Jongseong's voice.

"I didn't, but honestly, that was to be expected."

Yunjin hears the boys chuckle, "Even in this state, you're still quite cocky." Heeseung was the one who spoke, and she could hear them moving around the room. The shuffling of her jackets and clothes is what she hears. Even their quiet footsteps fill her ears.

Yunjin grins, "Well, of course. I know the team can do it."

"Chaewon was here." It felt like Yunjin's ear was ringing when Yeonjun spoke once more.

"Jun!" Yunjin heard Heeseung say in a hushed voice and heard him slap Yeonjun on the shoulder or on the arm, Yunjin wasn't too sure.

Yeonjun grunts, "What?? I just wanted to let her know!"

"I'm pretty sure she already knew that!" Heeseung says through gritted teeth.

The redhead could hear Yeonjun scoff.

"Hey, Yun, I'm not trying to cause you any harm with this information."

"I know," Yunjin immediately replies and deeply sighs. She finally turns and looks at them.

They all noticed how tired she looked, but no one dared to comment on it. The bandages on her arm and leg looked unpleasant to look at as well.

Jongseong tries his best not to wince at the sight.

The three boys actually can't stomach the fact that Yunjin got injured because of ACE Academy. Even thinking about the scene that unfolded in front of them earlier was too much for them.

It just only reminded them of Jaeyun as well.

It was obvious they felt bad that they couldn't do anything about it. Basketball players can't fight with the opposing team.

It could lead them to lose the privilege to play on the court for their next game.

But to them, it was unfortunate that they couldn't stand up for their friends.

"You know... the thing that happened at the resort.." Yeonjun starts once more, "You know that you can ask us for help with her, right? We're not just co-members of the basketball team. We're your friends, too."

Although both Heeseung and Jongseong didn't want to bring the topic up, they agreed with what Yeonjun said. They weren't just members of the basketball team.
