Script 22: Curtain call

Start from the beginning

She was concerned if Kazuha's phone screen was still intact.

"Well, I seem to be getting better! You know, I think I can even run around now." The redhead had that cocky grin on her lips. Kazuha could already see the result of that if she ever tried doing it.

The Japanese girl scoffs, "Good luck with that." before turning away and picking up her phone once more.

Yunjin could only chuckle, "You don't believe me?"

"I didn't say that. I said good luck."

"I really do feel better. I wonder if I can attend rehearsals again."

There was a pause before any of them could talk. It was as if Kazuha had to think carefully about how she would respond.

"Why? Did they find someone to replace me?" Yunjin didn't want to show it, but she sounded a bit disappointed. Kazuha has yet to tell her anything, but she expects the worst.

"No. As far as I know, they refuse to find someone else."

Yunjin wonders why.

It actually took her by surprise. It's the theater club! They wouldn't want to miss having to put on a show for everyone. They're famous for creating great performances, good storylines, and catchy songs.

"Why haven't they? I mean- they're running out of time."

Kazuha finally turns back to look at her, phone in hand. Yunjin was still concerned about the girl's phone screen, but she didn't ask about it.

"They just simply don't want to. That's what I heard from Kkura. They did have a very long meeting about it, and most of the members think Chaewon doesn't have enough time to rehearse with someone new all over again."

It was reasonable, sure, but it definitely made Yunjin feel a little guilty.

She knows she's already feeling well, healing quickly, and all, but she does want to stay in the comfort of her house. She had always been thinking of the play nonstop ever since she arrived home with bandages on her arm and leg.

The thought of the theater club struggling kept her up at night.

And the thought of Kim Chaewon kept her heart burning up at night.

Still longing for her despite the slight hatred and disappointment she feels toward the older girl.

You really can't get over someone quickly.

Especially if you're the same type of person as Huh Yunjin, the burn on the beach apparently wasn't enough to hurt her.

"I know why you're insisting that you're feeling well already." Kazuha suddenly spoke, which immediately caught Yunjin's attention.

"You want to attend rehearsals out of guilt."

It was insane how Kazuha knew exactly what Yunjin felt and wanted.

As much as Yunjin wants to deny and tell her how wrong she is, Yunjin can never lie.

All the words that leave Kazuha's mouth are true. Yunjin could barely stand up without pain surging through her leg, let alone deny the truth.

She'd ignore the pain to attend. She'd ignore the pain to help.

She'd ignore the pain to see Chaewon.

"I'm guilty, yeah. I think what happened to me is mostly my fault. That player, Hwang, warned me already, but I-"

"Yunjin, please. What happened to you could have been avoided if they just played fair. The fact that you've been warned and you didn't listen doesn't make it your fault." Kazuha was upset. Reasonably so.
