as we breathed in our mistakes (ADailyDoseOfAri)

Smoke covered the air as we breathed in our mistakes

The ruins of our nation reflected in the sky

We brought this upon ourselves

And we sacrificed too many lives to die

I lost track of time

As I watched too many people say their goodbyes

To the world they once knew

A tragic story left in the pages of a history book

I knew the day would come

When we would finally hit the brink

When the government was no longer our savior

Simply a joke of our stupid behaviors

This was it

The end of our ongoing war

We were no longer divided by riches

Because poverty was all we had in store
