I woke up around 6 the next day sticking to the damp sheets laid on my bed. Ew. what the hell why am I so sweaty? I got up as soon as I awoke and ran to the thermostat.

It read 70 degrees but it was NOT that cold. I turned up the AC in hopes that it would cool down and jumped in the shower. The cold water hit my skin and washed away my worries about my first day.

There seemed to be a little bit of curiosity in the back of my mind though, wondering what it'll be like to have an actual job. I'm sure it'll be nice not smelling like ground coffee beans all day.

I walked through the wide hallways until I was in front of my boss'. "Hello Mr. Gilinsky, how are you this morning" I said. I swiped a piece of hair behind my ear.

"You're late ms Conway" He stated while he looked through heavy piles of papers. I frowned and checked my watch. 7:34 was on my watch.

"I'm sorry wasn't I expected to be here at 7:30?" I stood blatantly across the room from him questioning if I was worth his time to look up and speak to me.

"Yes and you're 4 minutes late. What are you not understanding about this?" He finally looked up and arched his eyebrow.

"Yes. Well my A/C stopped working and it was the worst to fix I'm-"

"Please" He scrunched his eyebrows. "Spare me the ugly personal story and get to work."

"It's only a few minutes" I shouldn't have said anything, I know but his rudeness only made me more fired up.

"In business, time is money. I don't believe you would want that money taken from you, now would you Ms Conway?" His attitude made me furious but I know better than to mess with my boss on the first day. Without another word I fake smiled and walked to my office across the hall.

I was in this room briefly during the tour the other day but if seems so much bigger when I'm the only one in it. I sat down on the bouncy swivel chair and leaned back into the leather. This is great. The strong chilled air blasted onto my skin making me happier than ever.

So I'm at a new job, in my office... What do I do now?

I ran my fingers along the glossy wood finish on my new desk in front of me. My fingers tugged on the drawer until it exposed a yellow file with my name written in all caps along the side. I opened the file, feeling like a child opening presents on Christmas. It's that kind of excitement.

Beneath the folder showed a stack of blank white paper. Nothing written on any of them. Is it printer paper? Not as exciting as I hoped but I guess I could use it.

I pushed it back into the drawer and looked up in awe at my new computer. A Dell touch screen one that was probably bigger than my TV at home.. Damn

I moved the mouse around and looked through it excitedly until I heard a knock on the door. "Come in" I called back, not wanting to look up from the device.

An attractive light brown haired man my age walked in through the door. The man that offered me the job. I think his name was Sam? He walked towards me and reached his hand out across the desk. "Lydia? I'm Sam Wilkinson, welcome to the company" I shook his hand and smiled politely.

He took me on a tour of the floor, showing me the copy room, mail room, the lunch spot and bathrooms. He seemed really nice and even a little flirty at times, but I dismissed it without thinking about it much.

"For our last stop, I have to take you back to your office and show you where to submit and write your work on your computer" he led me back to my office and sat down at my computer while I stood next to him.

He clutched the mouse and clicked on a few things but seemed lost. "I um, I forgot how to get onto the attachment" he leaned back into my chair and opened his legs a little. "Can you show me?" He pointed to the computer.

I leaned forward to grab the mouse and searched through the files. "What's it called?" I scrolled past multiple documents but not any that seemed related to my work. I turned around to see Sam staring straight at my butt until he realized I was talking to him.

"Hmm?" His attention went back on my face and I sighed and stood up. Fucking pig.

"I need a drink" I muttered and walked out the room. Of course I meant some water, but some whiskey would be great too.

"Left drawer above the fridge" Sam shouted at me as I walked away.

I walked cautiously to the kitchen that Sam already showed me, careful that I wouldn't miss it or get lost. I looked for the fridge, opened the drawer above it on my tippy toes to reach for it but I fell just short. I could see the bottle in the cabinet but damn my shortness I was just an inch away.

"Already on the first day?" A blonde man came in, laughing a little at my struggle. I looked down at my shoes in embarrassment and looked back up at him.

"I'm not proud of it" I laughed at myself too, partly because I was just really embarrassed and didn't know what else to do. He walked over to the cabinet, stood on his tippy toes too and grabbed the bottle.

He pulled out an empty water bottle from under the counter and poured a little in. "I'm Jack Johnson, I'm guessing you're the newbie?" He poured himself some also before putting cap back on and reaching up into the cabinet to hide it.

"Yeah, Lydia Conway" I sat down on a chair at the table and relaxed a bit. I guess that's what they call me, a newbie. The man was very attractive in my eyes, there are so many attractive people at this company it's a little unsettling.

"And I'm guessing Sam already gave you the tour?" He sat down across me.

"Why do you think I'm drinking already?" I joked, but I was mostly serious.

He laughed and I couldn't help but admire everything about him so far. His blue eyes were captivating and intriguing. His smile was the cutest when he laughed, that's for sure. I like this one so far.

"Did he do the skit where he asks you to help him with the computer?" He raised a brow and asked.

I suddenly felt stupid. "He does that to everyone?" I asked.

I watched as he shook his head in shame. "Well usually he goes for the college interns but I guess he's mixing it up" he half laughed and then took a gulp of the drink. "I don't blame him though, you're a cute one"

I blushed and fought back a smile like I was in 8th grade and my crush just told me I looked cute. I suddenly felt a sparking interest in him, I like Jack.
