"Unhand me!" Lane hollered, trying to pry herself out of Jasper's arms.

What the fuck did he mean he's known since last year?!

"How the hell could you go so long without saying? You've known everything! Felt the way I felt! Explain yourself!"

Lane continued to grunt and strain the more she tried to pry his hands off of her waist. Her cheeks were hot and she was flushed with complete embarrassment and humiliation.

"Lane—"

"Shut up! I've been thinking so much about you all this time and you knew. You literally let me stew in my chair and daydream about you. I almost failed my calculus test two weeks ago because of that shit! Why didn't you say anything?!"

"Because—"

Lane finally pried herself out of his hands (mainly 'cause he let her) and started pacing about the room.

"Enough! I can't believe what I'm hearing! I'm gonna bang my head against the wall like that one lady in Hereditary. I'm gonna run away to Timbuktu or some shit. You'll never—"

Jasper sped over to her and clamped her mouth shut with his hand. She glared up at him, her eyes wary and still humiliated as he smiled softly down to her.

"Will you let me explain?"

...I guess....

Lane nodded and glanced down, Jasper tilting her head up so he could look at her face properly.

"I wanted to wait for the right time, sweetheart. I didn't wanna rush you into anything. And most importantly, I wanted you to know what I was first. I know we had started to become closer, but even then, it was so hard to tell you. I thought you were gonna reject me," Jasper spoke honestly, practically bearing his heart to her as he hoped she'd see his side.

Lane's eyes almost popped out of her skull at the notion of her rejecting him. She pointed at herself and then at him as if she was struggling to put two and two together; she technically was.

"That's just... that's like saying two plus two is nine," she said unfathomably, moving closer to the bed to plop on it.

"I promise you, honey," he said moving close to her. This time, he was the one standing in between her legs while she looked up at him with those pretty brown eyes of hers. He loved it. "I want this to be perfect for you. I want to be perfect for you."

Lane practically had heart eyes the more she looked at him. Jasper was glorious from the angle. From any angle really. The warm light made him look beautiful. His skin softly glistened as if it was made from pure gold, his eyes shining the same like deep pools looking lowly back at her.

To Jasper, she looked like a goddess. Everything Lane viewed as an imperfection made flawless in his eyes. Her brown skin, though littered with acne scars smooth and warm beneath the light from the numerous lamps in her room. Her short black dreads perfectly disheveled while her pink lips glistened from her licking them so much.

"You already are. I think you're nothing but," she murmured softly, bashfully leaning into the hands that cradled her face.

"You're too gracious," Jasper chimed, amused.
