The next couple of days, Edward Cullen hadn't shown up to school for whatever reason, much to the Swan's disappointment.

Lane couldn't give any less of a fuck than she did now.

Her swooning over Jasper never ended, she barely even knew when it started. She just knew that it wasn't stopping any time soon.

She could guess it had unfolded second semester sophomore year when she had tripped over her shoelaces in the middle of the hallway. Jasper had seen her trying to juggle the books in her hands all while attempting push up the rectangular glasses that threatened to fall off of her face.

Lane hadn't really payed much attention to the new family, but when he took it upon himself to double bow her shoe laces with swift, limber fingers, she couldn't help but be hyperaware of him everywhere she went.

History had been the hardest class she's had in a long while. Not because it was hard or the teacher was a major dickwad, but because the seats had been changed.

The minute Lane walked into the classroom to see a new seating chart on the board, her legs felt like they were about to give out under her.

Guess who was right next to her all the way in the back of the class.

This felt criminal, like God was working against her or something. This was a thing of nightmares. And her wildest dreams.

Oh god, oh god, oh god! What if I fart in front of him or something? Or my stomach starts growling during a test?! I might take myself out, never come back.

"Oh dang, we're not next to each other anymore," Angela frowned slightly before shrugging it off to get sit in her new seat.

Lane quickly rushed after the girl, careful not to trip over her long skirt. "Wait, wait, wait! It must be a mistake. Maybe this was for the last class."

"There's another Angela Weber going to this school?" Angela quipped sarcastically, taking out her notebook as she smiled at the girl. "Why are you so nervous? Who're you— ohh.... Ohhh...."

"Quit it!" Lane quietly snapped, covering her cheeks nervously as she saw Jasper walk into the room. His demeanor was casual, nonchalant with almost an air of aloofness to him. He was anything but.

"You need to relax," Angela scolded, lightly tapping Lane's waist. "You'll be okay, just be natural."

"No one likes me when I'm natural! My eyes get all weird and I start acting like I've never interacted with mankind before," Lane countered, her face showing desperation for any sort of escape.
