*Knock knock*

I instantly turned my head towards the door, I knew I left it open. My parents were standing at the door, Kenzy in the hands of my dad.

"Hey Sweetheart. How's he doing?" My mom said, walking towards us.

I turned my head, seeing Brayden asleep. He fooled me, his grip around me was so strong. I reached up and stroked the side of his face. It felt really cold, much different than his normal warmth that he has naturally. "He decided he'd do the surgery. But he feels guilty about taking someone's life."

My dad now walked over, pulling a chair up for my mom and setting Kenzy at the foot of the bed. "You know he'd do anything for you. He knows how much him dying would hurt you and probably doesn't want to leave you like that. Not if he had the choice."

Kenzy started crawling over to us, placing a picture on his lap. "I think Bray would like this picture of all of us, don't you think?"

I lifted it so I could see, I didn't want to move too much and wake him up. It was a picture from the day of her birth, Brayden had her in his arms, a huge smile stretched across his face.

I remember that day, he had told me that holding her was one of the happiest days of his life. I had asked him why, for we were in the fifth grade at the time. He simply said, "She is like a little you. But she will be like my sister, she will always have me."

I looked up at Kenzy, "I bet he would. He loves you a lot kiddo, he wants you to know that. He talks about you so much."

Kenzy stiffened up, "He does? But we aren't even related and you are his girlfriend, why does he love me?"

I smiled, so did my parents. We all knew how silly she sounded, and the extent of how much he loved her.

My dad grabbed her and put her on my mom's lap, "He loves you as if you are his little sister, he was there the day you were born. He told me that he would be another big brother to you, that you would always have him."

"Daddy?" Kenzy questioned. "Is Brayden going to die?"

I felt a tear come from my eye. I pressed my head into Brayden's chest, keeping my eyes closed so that she couldn't see the pain she just afflicted on me.

"No sweetheart," my mom said, rushing to put a hand on my back. She started rubbing it with her nails, something that always seemed to calm me down. "He will live, he has a whole life to live and he promised not to leave Klo. We will come and visit him in the morning when he wakes up."

I looked up at my mom, she stood up, "Can I stay here? I can make up my school work."

My mom started crying, "I know you will."

My dad wrapped his arms around her, "See you in the morning sweetheart. Drink this okay?" He handed me an iced green tea, something he had introduced me to years ago.

I nodded, placing it on the table. "I love you guys."

They left the room, leaving me in tears still, but that wasn't going to stop. I looked up at Brayden, still fast asleep.

"Bray, please wake up. I need to see you before you go into surgery." I said, holding his right hand.

I felt a little movement from him, "Wow, and I was having a great dream of you. I'm glad you're here now so I wouldn't be disappointed."

I reached up and kissed him, "I'm always here. I won't leave you, although, they aren't going to let me go into surgery with you. But I won't leave your side other than then."

He smiled, making me smile too. His happiness is like a drug, and I'm an addict.

*knock knock*

"I'm sorry to interrupt but," a nurse walked in, "It's time for your surgery now."

I turned for one more kiss, I made this a long and meaningful one. Lord knows if this surgery will work, but the chances are low and I don't want to leave our last moments without one.

"I love you, babe." He said, pulling away as they started filing in the room. "See you when my heart's renewed."

I got up, slowly sliding off the bed. The nurses started wheeling him out of the room. I quickly said, "I'll love you all the same."

Then, he was gone.
