It's the second time I've fallen asleep with Daryl by my side, and it's the second time I've subsequently woken up alone.
I push myself out of bed, not wanting to be in here any longer. My thoughts continue to be overwhelmed with Daryl. It's like an unending migraine or maybe that's from the rocks from yesterday. I have other things I should be focusing on, but I just can't. That is until Glenn drags me out of the kitchen before I can even take a sip of coffee and pulls me all the way into the open field. My heart picks up its pace and I can't help but wonder if he knows where I slept last night.
"Jesus what is the matter?" I ask.
"First of all, are you okay, I was so worried yesterday."
I smile at his concern, "Yes Glenn, I'm a bit scratched up but I'm alright."
"Okay great, by the way, there are walkers in the barn, Lori might be pregnant and I had sex with Maggie and now she's mad at me." He breathes a sigh of relief.
I stand there stunned, that is a lot of information to process this early in the morning. And then it hits me.
"Ew, I don't need to hear about your sex life." I shove him gently.
"Really Jennie, that is what you focus on?"
"Alright, alright, how do you even know any of this stuff?"
Glenn then informs me he was going to do some 'activity' with Maggie in the barn but found it filled with walkers. Maggie and her family seem to believe they can be cured. As for Lori, she had asked Glenn the other day if he could pick up a pregnancy test on his trip into town. He then continues to ramble that he has been sworn to secrecy about all of this and that it's killing him.
"Okay," I start, calming my brother down, "I think we are going to have to tell Rick about the walkers. Rick is rational, I'm sure he and Hershel can have a discussion about it. I will go talk to Lori, we are friends, and she might need help if she's pregnant. Finally, never tell me about your sex life unless it's going to save the world." I nod at him and he nods back at me. Though as we walk back to the farmhouse I can't help myself.
"Maggie huh, I knew it." I grin at him and he groans in frustration.
I find Daryl resting in a tent. I smile at him as I walk past and for once he returns the smile. I then spot Lori, I take a deep breath and approach her.
"Hey Lori, how are things."
She looks at me a little suspiciously but answers.
"Can I talk to you for a moment." I lead her a bit out the sight from the others.
"There's no easy way to say this," I start.
"Glenn told you didn't he." She sighs and rubs her forehead.
"Listen Glenn has never been one for secrets, or lying. But Lori you can't do this alone, you need vitamins, extra food, other things, I don't know." I say to her.
She sighs again. "No one else knows." She confesses.
"You still haven't told Rick?" I understand why Glenn was so stressed. I can tell my concern is freaking her out more so I force myself to be neutral.
"I'm sure you can get through this," I tell her but she shakes her head. "How about I tell Glenn to make another trip to that pharmacy, he can pick up anything you might need." I suggest.
She takes a deep breath, "Okay."
She walks off and I plan to make my way to the others when my whole body freezes. My mind fits pieces together like a jigsaw, the prolonged glances from Shane at the camp, the awkwardness between them since Rick returned, that night at the CDC. Maybe it's not Rick's baby.
