Jane's reply came out cold and sharp, like ice piercing through her heart. "I hate you," he said. "Don't show me your pathetic face again. Get out."

The words struck like a sudden winter storm, freezing her in place. The intensity of his words wasn't a fiery rejection-it was a chilling, merciless dismissal. The blaze in his eyes didn't burn her with passion; it froze her, leaving her heart brittle and cracking under the weight of his cruelty. Aisha, hidden behind the rooftop penthouse, peeked out in shock. "How dare you, you scum..." she muttered under her breath, her fists clenched in anger. Evaa stood there, trembling, unable to form words. Her lips quivered, and tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over. "Jane... what did you say?" Her voice was small and broken, as if she couldn't believe what she'd just heard. In her mind, she tried to convince herself that she must have misheard him. *Maybe he's just having a bad day... maybe he didn't mean it.* Desperate to salvage something, she spoke again, her voice pleading. "Jane, if you're busy right now, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you. I can wait for your answer later, okay? I'll wait as long as you need..." Jane's expression twisted with disdain. "Looks like your ears are as dumb as you are," he spat. "I said I hate you. I despise you more than anyone else in our class. And you think there's a better time for this? No. There couldn't be a more perfect moment to tell you just how much I can't stand you."

He stepped closer, his presence looming over her like a shadow. Evaa's tears streamed down her cheeks, and she wiped her nose with her sleeve, her face a mix of heartbreak and disbelief.

Aisha, watching from the corner, felt a knot tighten in her stomach. She wanted to intervene but couldn't bring herself to move. She needed to hear what Jane would say next, even though she dreaded it.

Jane leaned in, his voice low but filled with venom. "Listen carefully, you fool. What made you think I'd ever fall for someone like you? Are you delusional? I've never even considered you. Love? That's the last thing I'd ever feel for you. Every time I look at you, I see a disgusting face, and that's none other than yours." Evaa's voice cracked. "Jane... please, stop."

Aisha couldn't hold back anymore. "You son of a bitch," she hissed, but her voice was drowned out by Jane's cold monologue.

Jane continued, unrelenting. "I remember you from middle school too. But you know what I remember most? How much you annoyed me with your stupid, boring jokes. You were always a distraction, ruining our study time. I hated you back then, and I hate you even more now. Why don't you do us both a favor and leave this school? I'd have peace without having to see your face." Evaa sobbed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Jane... please, just stop. I can't take this." Jane's expression hardened even more, his tone like ice. "Oh, you can't take it? Too bad, because I want this to end, once and for all. You'll regret ever telling me your feelings. You're a piece of trash, and you have no place here. What did you say? You wanted me so badly?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "You're not good at anything. Not sports, not studies, not extracurricular. You're a failure in every sense of the word. When I see your face, that's all I think of-failure."

He paused, then leaned closer, his words dripping with malice. "And that nonsense your mom told you? 'When you're awake, you realize'? Well, realize this-I hate you with every fiber of my being." Evaa's knees buckled. She fell to the ground, clutching her chest as if she could hold her broken heart together. The pain was unbearable, like nothing she had ever felt. The tears came fast and uncontrollable, her body trembling with each sob.

Aisha ran towards her, finally breaking her own paralysis. She knelt down beside Evaa, wrapping her arms around her, holding her as tightly as she could. "Evaa, I'm here... I'm here." Jane turned his back on them, walking away without a second glance. His indifference was like the final nail in the coffin of Evaa's shattered heart.
