Trust... is one fragile thing.
The capacity to count with another person's help is full of risks, and when trust is broken it can never be repaired because it leaves scars that will stay forever.
After that, distrust, doubt and paranoia are born, making their way into the hearts of those whose trust was broken, and then it becomes necessary to always prove genuine intentions to them.
The majority of times this would be problematic, but there are rare occasions in which it is understandable.
There is no place for foolishness or wanton stupidity when it comes to entrusting anyone with either your personal life or business and even less when you have a responsibility over the very lives people that are under you.
The Yokai Faction is a supernatural powerhouse that covers the entirety of Japan and serves as it's protector against the forces of other supernatural factions, but like all other stories about a force or a faction: They weren't clean of making errors and mistakes throughout their story. They were deceived and betrayed many times and with it, various degrees of consequences befell them and their people.
But then, they learned to be stronger and wiser despite the many failures as they amassed more forces for their Faction in the form of many other spiritual beings: Both monster and human-like and later they chose to close down their Faction to operate their advancements and projects in secrecy.
The Yokai Faction housed many spiritual beings that served their Leaders and had different purposes in it, but one type of spirit stood out the most in the service: The birds of war, Tengu.
Meet Y/N Kurama, a young Karasu Tengu who was the sole heir of the Kurama Clan, one of the most prominent Yokai families in the Faction who served as both the guardians of the Leader of the Yokai Faction and as members of the Council.
He is the son of Madara and Shizuka Kurama, the main heads of the family and he was a total prodigy in the Tengu ways and art, learning to use and control his powers efficiently with discipline and desire to start his sacred duty once the time came.
Even if the Faction was closed, other supernatural forces were still moving and making advancements of their own, just like when the Council received a petition letter from both Sirzechs Lucifer and Serafall Leviathan, two of the Demon Lords of the Devil Faction to have a meeting and discuss a new deal they had for them.
With their recently gained cautiousness, the Council was reluctant and were against the idea of hearing these unknowns because they didn't know their intentions and could possibly be a trap, but after some discussions and thinking they decided to have the meeting to let the devils speak for themselves about what they wanted.
In that moment: Sirzechs and Serafall explained that many Stray Devils have escaped the Underworld and hid in the surface world, the majority of them ending up in Japan and since they were dangerous beasts without control they could go out to kill and eat every human that crossed their path. The Council knew about the strays and asked what was the meaning of the meeting since they were more than capable of disposing these beasts but the devils said that since they were Stray Devils they were their responsibility to take care of but they didn't want to impose in their domain rudely without prior announce and so, they offered the deal:
How about they lend Kuoh Town to them as their territory?
To be more clear: They requested the Yokai Council to let their little sisters Rias and Sona take residence in Kuoh Town for them to spend their time and learn in the surface world and in exchange they would take care of the humans residing there and eliminate all the Stray Devils that were threatening their lives.
After hearing the deal, the Council members began to discuss with each other about it, after so many lies and betrayal how could they let their guard down and let these unknowns prance around in their domain? It was dangerous and reckless! But in the end, they agreed and accepted the deal with the devils, which they were happy and ecstatic for. They both promised that they wouldn't let them down and the Council answered that they better not.
Unknown to Sirzechs and Serafall, the Council made a secret plan: When the time came in which their little sisters would move to live in Kuoh Town, they would send their best agent as an undercover spy to supervise and observe their moves and to see if they were really taking care of the place as part of their deal, and if they proved themselves to be liars like many others, there would be consequences to pay!
Y/N was chosen as the agent and he was entrusted with the mission, he would be working on it as he waited for Kunou, the daughter of the current Leader of the Yokai Faction Yasaka to be ready for when she became the future Leader so he could take his place as her Guardian.
But he didn't go there alone, he was accompanied by his childhood friend Ara Haan and his contracted spirit Kagekiyo Taira to be part of the mission.
