The thunder echoed around the whole den. My sister and brothers huddled against my mother, Lilyfeather as it started to rain. I pushed against my sister Shadekit while Riverkit and Sagekit hid under Lilyfeather's tail.

Raintail ran in with her kits Snowkit, Flintkit and Stormkit behind her. They were a moon away from becoming apprentices. We still had three moons left. They each got their own nest to curl up in because they had grown so big.

Flintkit was the biggest tom. As they hid in their nests from the pouring rain his long legs hung out. Snowkit was a beautiful white she-cat with gray paws, she was small but lean and fit perfectly in her nest. Stormkit looked just like his sister but his face was gray.

After I woke up from a long nap the rain had ceased. I crept out from under my mothers comforting paw and headed to the den entrance. "Lavenderkit? Does you're mother know you're leaving the den?"

I turned to Raintail. Her eyes were opened and she was watching me.

"No...." I replied "But I was thinking that you could tell her when she wakes up. I mean I wouldn't want to wake her. She looks so peaceful." I meowed trying to look convincing.

Raintail snorted, "Go ahead, I know you're father as been meaning to see you."

I dashed off heading for High Rock. My father would be there setting up patrols for the rest of the day. I saw his light brown tabby pelt and I ran over and jumped on his back. He rolled over and squashed me flat on the ground. He stood up and turned his lavender gaze to me.

Everyone says I look like my father the most. We have the same lavender colored eyes that none of my siblings have. I have a light brown tabbypelt too but I have a white face and paws.

"What are you doing up so early?" He asked me

"Early?" I meowed "Isn't it daytime?" Then I remebered that it was the middle of Green leaf. The days were really long so it was probably really early in the morning.

I heard the thudding of paws from the camps entrance. The cats who had left for the gathering last night were returning. Instead of turning to their dens for a good rest they all headed for the clearing. Robinstar jumped onto High Rock.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High Rock for a clan meeting!" She called. Cats started creeping out from their dens looking up at Robinstar expectantly. "Shadowclan and Thunderclan have come together. They said at the gathering that they believe Riverclan and Windclan are the weakest clans and that we should join their clans and give them our territory." Meowls of protest echoed through the clan cats. My father pulled me in closer with his tail. I could see Lilyfeather pushing through the crowd with my siblings at her heels.

"Riverclan refused to give up their land and I agreed with Reedstar. But as many of you have noticed we have no apprentices and we lost a lot of warriors to the Greencough outbreak so I have made the hard decision of making all our kits apprentices."
