This book has been written as a prequel to "Beauty and Decay" as well as a sequel to "40 Days in the Desert," but it can very much be read as a standalone as well. Only a few details connect with the other stories and the fact that they're set in the same universe with recurring characters.
As a side note, I don't have warnings for each chapter, but keep in mind that the story features: violence, language, drugs and alcohol consumption, non-explicit sex scenes, gore, and mentions of occult elements.
