"Oh my God, shut up! That was a low point," Chaewon groaned, raising herself slightly to look at the girl.
They stared at each other in silence. There was an inexplicable comfort in those big, brown eyes and her thick, curved eyebrows that made her look like a contented puppy.
Every time she looked at Kim Chaewon, her heart jumped ropes and her stomach did stunts. She didn't know how a 5' 3 walking ball of anger issues managed to weasel her way into her heart, but here they were.
"You've got that 'using-your-brain look on your face," Chaewon chuckled.
Yunjin laid her hands flat on her back, inhaling a deep breath. "You said you wouldn't change anything," She said.
"And I meant it," The other nodded. She buried her face in Yunjin's neck again, pressing a kiss against her skin.
"I think she's still in love with you. Yena, I mean. And if she means something to you, I don't– I don't want to be the one standing in the way of that. I want you to be happy, Chae-chae. That's all I want," Yunjin spoke in one breath.
Her heart was pounding.
Chaewon stirred slightly, but didn't look up. Puffs of air tickled Yunjin's skin as she breathed, and she wondered if she could hear her heartbeat.
"I broke up with her because of you," The girl admitted. "And I was angry at you after I broke up with her. That's why I avoided you for that week, I was just– I was so angry because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get you out of my head. For years you've haunted my thoughts, my actions, my choices. I thought that if I pretended to be in love with Yena, it would eventually be true,"
She sucked in a deep breath as her fingernails dug into the fabric of Yunjin's hoodie. "But it was never true. Because I kept thinking about you, and your stupid, perfect face and those stupidly kissable lips." She muttered.
"But you never looked at me that way. You're– you're Huh Yunjin, who can get a boyfriend whenever she wants and who's my best friend. And all I could do was cheer you on, even though I–"
Yunjin pulled her closer. "Chaewon, I–"
"I was in love with you. I am in love with you. At the club, I saw you dancing with that guy and I just lost it, and I– but then you–," Chaewon buried her face deeper into Yunjin's skin.
"Then you kissed me back, and I thought it was all wrong, yet nothing's ever felt more right. And I know we're not together, and I don't know if you ever want to be, but I'm in love with you."
She held onto Yunjin as if she'd get up and leave any second now.
"And I was worried you didn't like me," Yunjin could only laugh at the irony. "God, you should've seen me. I was having a whole crisis because you're my best friend, and you're not supposed to... well, want to kiss your best friend. Or more,"
She shyly lowered her hands to the small of Chaewon's back as she looked up at her. "I've just– I've never been in a steady relationship, and I've never... liked a girl. But it all just felt so easy and right with you, and I should've known– I should've known it was always you. I know I'm an idiot, but good lord, I'm a moron." She sighed.
"What are you saying?" Chaewon asked, her eyes twinkling in the dim mood lights. Yunjin could feel the girl's heartbeat thump against her rib age.
"I just want to be with you. I want to kiss you every day until we die of old age. I want to live in a little cabin far away with you when we're retired, and I want to have little mini-Chae's who see their aunts on the weekends." Yunjin bit her lip.
"I want to love you. If you'll let me."
Chaewon shot up so fast that her forehead hit Yunjin's chin. The taller girl rubbed the sore spot whilst the other straddled her, intensely staring her in the eyes.
"You– you love me? Me?" She asked. Yunjin could see the constellations in her wide eyes.
"I don't know, I thought I made that clear by kissing you the last few million times," The other mumbled, leaving her chin to marinate in pain as she moved her hands to Chaewon's hips.
The other bit her lip. "Don't be such a smartass, I–"
She sighed. "God, we could've settled this, like, a month ago."
"Very not-fearless of us," Yunjin nodded.
Chaewon groaned. "That's not even funny! I hate you."
"And I love you." The tall girl smiled.
"I hate that I love how corny you are," Chaewon muttered. She leaned down to capture Yunjin's lips in something sweet, gentle and never-ending.
She shamelessly slid her hands under the other's hoodie, feeling around her lean stomach. Yunjin chuckled against her lips, pecking them a few times before pulling away.
"Be my girlfriend?" She asked, her love-filled eyes staring at Chaewon's.
"If you'll be mine," Chaewon grinned.
