By Lynn Christine Cherop
Do you ever feel like your constantly running from something?
Perhaps the feeling of abandonment
Or that of shame and rejection
Generally, running from anything that triggers you
It is high time we diagnose ourselves
If at all there's such a thing as impulse running
Or let's call it staying in running mode
This reflects how we've mastered this art
The thing with running is that you must have mastered detachment.
R removing yourself from situations
U unplugging from the background noise
N Navigating New Horizons
In the endless race, we forget to breathe
To reflect on the situation and find solutions
We forget that whatever we are running from,
Will probably follow us wherever we go
When our minds whisper 'run'
A sudden discomfort takes over
Everything around us doesn't make sense anymore
We are quick to pack up bags and leave
But are you in contact with your emotions?
Or like a leaf, your blown away by winds of your fears
Running teaches you to be invested in people, one minute
And detached in the next, like they never existed
You are quick to switch up and,
Your mind convinces you that you can make it anywhere
But how long shall you run?
To what destination shall you find rest
In which relationship shall you find zero problems
In what environments shall you have limited conflicts
Or will you keep chasing the new horizons, never arriving
Never finding solace, never embracing the beauty of being still
Running becomes overwhelming
Especially if your affecting those around you
You may have to ghost people
And disorganize the social lives of those you are running with.
Not to mention the family members you left behind like breadcrumbs in the dark
But soon, running will become tiring
You will develop the urge to stop and face your fears
To deal with the draining friendships
To reclaim control over your life
To speak up about life's injustices
How about you stop running right now,
take a sip of water, and just walk
With reassurance walk through your problems
With guidance walk through your triggers
With self awareness walk through the positives.
Embrace the beauty of Vulnerability
In the stillness, you will find strength
And the courage to face what comes your way.
