"ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! EVACUATE THE COMPOUND IMMEDIATELY!" The alarms rang loud, the walls of the compound were coated in red as the sirens flickered with each passing second.
"Rebecca?! I got the cure! Where are you?!" I screamed, running through the halls as fast as I can, trying to find my way to Rebecca's voice.
"Over here!" She calls out through the thick mist of smoke. I found her in the command center, sparks flying everywhere as she frustratingly hotwired the consoles to work. "Here, give me the cure."
I handed the vial to her and she placed it inside the console. The lights slowly began to glow dim, the flickering slowing down and the lights shifted from red to green.
"Yes! It's accepting the cure! You did it!" She celebrated, jumping as we both watched the cure get processed. "That's it, just a little bit more and-"
"WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! CURE NOT SUITABLE! CURE NOT SUITABLE!"
The smiles on our faces quickly vanished, the lights quickly went back to red and the whole building shook, sparks flew even more. The cure dissipating in thin air.
"What did you do...?" Rebecca, her voice stone cold, asked as she has her back turned against me. "I specifically told you to go look for a cure! NOT MAKE THINGS WORSE!"
My face shifts into one of horror as she quickly turned around, for me to see her face infected by the mold. I tripped as I took a step back in shock, nothing to catch my fall. She stood there, face whittling away as the mild slowly overtook her entire body.
"YOU USELESS, PATHETIC, BRAT!!!" Her eyes grew bright red, her mouth filled to the brim with fangs. Without warning, she lunges towards me with her claws out.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed, my body sweating as I pant heavily, waking up from another one of the nightmares. "Just... A dream..." I mumbled to myself, the sun slightly hitting my face.
"I'll find a cure... Please... Just hang in there..."
