As soon as Andrea texted me to say that Taylor and Abby were with her and away from the house, I turned my car on and drove the few streets over from where I'd parked up to wait for the all clear. I'd really wanted to see them and I hated lying to Taylor and pretending I'd forgot, but I hoped she'd love this so much more when she came home to see what I'd done.

Taking the keys to her house Andrea had given me, I unlocked the door and turned the lights on. I'd backed my car up with the trailer as close as I could with everything inside, and I went down to the spare room next to Taylor's and opened the door. It sat empty except for a few storage boxes, since she hadn't had time to do anything with it.

But I'd change that. I knew Taylor was desperate for Abby to have her own room, a nursery, but she had been so busy being a Mom and a teacher. I'd been secretly talking to Andrea for about a week, planning to set this up so Taylor would be out of the house all day and I could build Abby a nursery.

The first thing I did was put the boxes in the living room for now, and then I found Taylor's vacuum cleaner and ran it over the carpet since it didn't look like anyone had been in there for a while. I took down the curtains and opened up the windows to air the room out, and then I went out to my car. I'd gone a little crazy with the things I'd bought, but it was all worth it for Abby, and for Taylor.

Taking the rolls of stick on wallpaper I'd had custom made after getting information from Andrea about what Abby liked, I took them into the room. They were a pale lilac colour with giraffes around the bottom, all different shapes and sizes. I knew it would take me a while to cover the whole room so I made a start, working as fast as I could while trying to do a good job. It had to be perfect, but I only had until evening at the latest before Taylor came home.

Luckily it didn't take me very long, and soon the walls were covered in pale lilac with giraffes. I took a moment to appreciate the work, and then I went back out to the car. Opening the trailer I'd hired, I started to take things out one at a time. I had; a dark blue rocking chair so that Taylor could feed Abby and rock her to sleep, a cute little stand bookshelf for all of Abby's toys and books, a set of purple draws with faux crystal knobs since she shared Taylor' ones at the moment, and a changing table.

I set everything up in the room, with the cot from Taylor's room in the far left corner, the chair next to it. I had the changing table and the drawers in the close right corner by the closet, and the bookshelf against the far wall. In the far right corner I lay out a circular fluffy rug with giraffes on it and a tiny little table and chair she could sit on to draw and play. Andrea told me she was a very artistic toddler, so I'd also bought her lots of crayons and things to create with.

Taking Abby's toys and books and clothes from everywhere in the house, I put them all into place in the nursery. Then I went back to the trailer, getting the big box I'd filled with decorations and taking it inside.

I hung up the blue curtains that matched the chair, and then hung up the five little pictures I'd had professionally printed and framed. They were all of Abby and Taylor, with Andrea in two of them as well. I hung those just to the side of the cot, not wanting them directly over in case they fell for some reason. Then I moved to the door, sticking on the velcro tabs so I could put up the little block letters spelling out 'Abby' in a glittery purple colour. Once I made sure they were on securely, I took the last things out of the box, hanging up the little metal butterflies around the window. High enough that Abby couldn't reach them since they were metal, but close enough so she could see them.
