"Yejun, I wanted to apologize; I know this whole situation fucking sucks." She couldn't help but feel bad. "You have no reason to be sorry. It's not your fault."
Turning around to face Hyunjin after she walked through the gate, she caught sight of someone standing at her front door. "AHHH!" She would have fallen to her knees, but luckily Hyunjin was able to catch her while frantically searching for the reason she busted his eardrums.
"Its me! Its me! Stop screaming!" Jungwon comes out of the shadows, holding his hands out to show he means no harm. Yejun quickly composes herself, dismissing the idea of screaming again to piss him off.
"Yejun, what was that?" Thankfully, her dad couldn't see what was happening as they were separated by the cement fence, as Yejun did not want to explain why the captain of the basketball team was at her house. "I'm okay, I just saw a bug."
"What are you doing here?" Yejun looked at Hyunjin as the words came out of his mouth, wondering how well he and Jungwon got along. Jungwon didn't look too happy to have to talk to him, turning to look at Yejun instead. "I came to bring your house key back." He dangled it in front of her face, waiting for her to take it.
"Why does he have your key?" Hyunjin looked borderline disgusted. "Because she's-" "He's my tutor!" It was the first thing she could think of, not wanting anyone to know she was on the team yet. "Tutor? Have you seen his grades?"
"Have you seen this fist?"
"Okay, that's enough." Yejun stepped between them, not at all in the mood to see a fight go down. It didn't matter, though; they ignored her words. "Speaking of fists, where's your lap dog, Sunghoon? Gonna have him beat me up again?"
"Trust me, I don't need Sunghoon for you to go home looking worse than you already do." Ignoring how Jungwon's words made her feel a little flustered, she started to push Hyunjin toward the exit. "Hyunjin, I think it's time to go. Thanks for being so kind; see you later." Hyunjin turned around to say something, making eye contact with Jungwon instead. He chose to stay silent and left, making sure to slam the gate.
Yejun sighed and turned around. "I hope you didn't have to wait long." Jungwon passed her the key. "It's alright; I got here a couple minutes ago." That was a lie. He had been there for hours, but he didn't mind; he would rather be anywhere than at home.
"What was that all about?" "What? Hyunjin? Oh, um, he's my new stepbrother." Jungwon gasped, bringing his hand to his mouth. "Wow, talk about bad luck." Yejun could only give a fake laugh. "Yep, so say goodbye to your plan of seducement." Yejun started making her way towards her front door, Jungwon's footsteps following behind her.
"Um, that plan is still very much in motion." Yejun whipped around. "What?! I can't seduce my stepbrother." Jungwon laughed, enjoying her pain way too much. "You don't have to seduce him anymore, but assuming you're going to be living with him, it will be a little easier to get what we need."
"I can't believe we're still doing that. What makes you think he even has the game layouts?"
"Because he's the captain of his team."
Yejun sighed in defeat, moving to unlock her door but discovering it was already open. "Did you go in?" "Yeah, about that. When we left earlier, Niki stole your laptop because apparently he had a game to finish, so I brought it back." "That little bitch." They both laughed, thinking about the audacity of their younger teammate.
"So, am I going to regret inviting you in?" Jungwon looked shocked, thinking about her offer. "Yes."
Yejun never thought she would be casually hanging out with Yang Jungwon. They've been talking and, surprisingly, have had a good time. Minimal insults thrown at each other, learning each other's favorite colors, his being a tie between blue and orange. It was going on one in the morning, but Yejun wasn't tired; she had too many thoughts floating around her head.
