Heart of Steel

Trust was broken.
Feelings were hurt.
Cruelty was spoken.
Now I learn.

No more smiles
that are fake.
No more miles
can I take.

You can't fool me.
Don't even try.
Your intention, I can see.
Please stop the lie.

I'm tired of this.
I want to be alone.
Everything feels amiss.
My smile seems sewn.

I will achieve my goals.
I will battle my way.
Her future, this girl knows.
This is the path she'll take.

She doesn't need help.
She'll get through on her own.
Before, nobody could tell.
Nobody could've known.

She holds a sea inside.
Deep churning emotions within.
But this is her fight,
and it's one she'll win.

So don't ask.
Don't offer to be there.
It's a heavy task,
one you just can't bear.

She'll achieve her dream.
She accepts her life.
It's worthy, she can deem,
even with the strife.
