"You are not to set foot anywhere that man." My dad yells at me.

Tears pool in my eyes as I look up at him. We're sitting in a conference room in Vienna. The U.N was just attacked hours ago, the prime suspect, Bucky Barnes. The same man who I've been assisting in hiding. It all came crashing down when my dad. Tony Stark discovered what I was doing.

Ever since the downfall of Shield I have been helping Steve hide Bucky. I told my dad that I was working with Fury. But really I was spending my time at a safe house helping Bucky recover his memories and how to decode the winter soldier within him.

I never meant to fall in love with him. But James Barnes is easy to love. His sweet smile and shy personality pulls you in. I love him and I'm never going to give up on him. Even if that means turning my back on my dad.

"You have it all wrong, dad." I stand and plant my hands on the table. "I know for a fact that Bucky did not do this."

My dad crosses his arms as he glares at me. "If you know he did not do this then tell me where he is."

I scoff and turn my head. "No."

"Why are you being so stubborn?" He seethes.

"BECAUSE I LOVE HIM." I yell while throwing my hands in the air.

The tears I tried so hard to keep back now come falling down. "I love him, dad." My voice cracks as I admit it all to him. "He's not the monster that everyone is trying to paint him to be. He never had a choice. And I will die protecting him if I have to."

My dad sits back in shock as his wide eyed gaze bores into me. But before he can say anything an alarm goes off. My gaze whips to the screen where Bucky is being questioned while restrained.

"What the fuck." I mutter to myself.

Out of the corner of my eye I spot Steve running down the hall. Dad already has his glasses on looking for the threat.

"Stay here." He orders before running out the door.

I wait a second and then I'm running down the hall following Steve. By the time I get to the hallways there are bodies littering the floor. I jump when Steven appears from the elevator shaft.

"What the fuck is happened?" I ask.

Steve grunts as he pulls himself out before collapsing on the floor. "Bucky. Words." He gasps in between each word.

"Come on." I tell him. "We need to find Bucky before my dad does."

Steve grunts before standing and then we're off running through the facility. I come to a screeching halt when I spot Bucky and my dad fighting. My dad aims his blaster at Bucky but I quickly tackle my dad to the floor.

"Stop!" I cry out. "He's not in control!"

But he doesn't listen and he pushes me away. He presses his hands down on my shoulders so hard I know I will have bruises.

"Please dad." I choke out. "Don't do this."

He shakes his head before pushing off me and runs after Bucky. I lay there for a second trying to get my breathing under control. Then I stand up and run towards Bucky. Before I get to the roof I hear Steve in my ear piece.

"I've got him. We're heading to the rendezvous point."

"Copy that." I respond while heading in the opposite direction. Once I reach the outside I pause. Touching the necklace that I have never taken off since my dad gave it to me. Once I take the next step I know my relationship with my dad will be shattered. With a deep breath I tear the necklace off and throw it on the ground.

My dad gave me the necklace the day I joined the Avengers. I knew it had a tracker in it but I never let him know that I knew. If wearing it kept his mind a piece that I would do it for him. But now that I was on the run, I can't trust him to not sell us out.

By the time I make it to the warehouse Bucky is still out cold. Steve, Sam, and I take turns during a surveillance check as we wait for Bucky to regain consciousness. We're officially fugitives but I don't care. Because for me, Bucky is worth breaking the law for.

Bucky finally rouses a few hours later and after proving that he is back in control we devise a plan to stop the other Winter Soldiers. Later that night Bucky is up pacing around the room. I stand in the doorway watching him, every time he reverts to the winter soldier his memories reset. I'm scared to ask him if he remembers me. If he remembers us.

His pacing stops as he stares out the tiny dirty window. We're far enough removed from the city that no one should see him. And even if they did see someone in the window, it's too dirty to get a clear visual.

"Are you just going to stand there?" He asks. His back is to me but I knew with his super hearing he heard me walk up.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted company". I answer while walking to stand beside him.

We're both silent for a bit before he turns to me. He cups my face with his hand. "I always want your company."

My shoulders sag in relief and then I throw my hands around his neck bringing his lips to mine. We kiss for what feels like a lifetime until we are both out of breath.

"I'm sorry you had to turn your back on your dad." He whispers.

I shake my heading, tilting my chin to look up at him.

"I love you, Bucky. And I would do anything for you."

He smiles and rests his forehead against mine. "I love you too."

Maybe one day my dad will forgive me but I will never regret choosing Bucky.
