Lily sat across from her boyfriend at the kitchen table

Lily sat across from her boyfriend at the kitchen table. Neither said a word as they continued to stare at the table top.

They'd been together for six years.

It was the best six years of her life. She was known in Hollywood as a serial dater, who couldn't keep a man.

And then she met Sebastian and everything else ceased to exist in her life.

Sebastian didn't care about her reputation before him. He didn't listen to the negative stories that circulated about her. It was all bullshit. No one bat an eye at the countless men in Hollywood that went through women faster than he went through underwear.

For six years they kept their relationship out of the public eye. Refusing to answer questions about each other, not walking the red carpet together.

Their relationship was just for them. And that's what the fans loved about them. Every year a rumor about them being engaged would circulate then die down. Only for it to circulate once again. Although, the latest rumor was Sebastian and Lily were secretly married.

But now here they sat not knowing what was going to happen.

Lily sighed, "What happens now?"

"I don't know." Sebastian shrugged.

She groaned as she threw her head back.

"I don't want this to end." She whispered. A lone tear sliding down her cheek.

"I don't either." Sighing, Sebastian stood from the chair as he crossed over to kneel in front of Lily.

Cupping both her cheeks. "But what choice do we have? The past year we've been two ships passing in the night."

Lily sobbed and grasped his wrist holding his hands in place.

"Then please don't do this." She pleaded. "I'll turn down the role. And we can start trying for a baby." She clenched her eyes closed as more tears threatened to fall. "All I want is you, Seb."

Sebastian rested his forehead against Lily's as he took in a deep breath. The waft of lavender engulfed his senses. It was a calming sensation for him. He'd smell lavender and instantly think of Lily.

"I can't ask you to do that." He whispered. "This is your dream and I can't let you turn it down for me."

"So that's it?" She opened her eyes to meet his ocean blue eyes. "We're really ending us?"

Sebastian swallowed past the lump in his throat.

"Yeah" he rasped.

Lily's sob echoed through the house as Sebastian held her. Tears streaming down his own cheeks.

Even though she knew the end was coming it doesn't stop her heart from shattering. Sebastian and Lily were being pulled in two different directions.

Lily's new role was taking her to Australia for the remainder of the year while Sebastian was filming in Los Angeles. But they'd been distant for the past year.

It wasn't that they stopped loving each other. They were still very much in love. But sometimes love wasn't enough. Calls and text would be missed. The distance was starting to wear down their relationship. The nail in the coffin was Lily's new role.

Both Lily and Sebastian cried until their eyes ran dry.

She lifted her head from his chest. Cupping his cheek she leant forward and kissed him.

Their last kiss.

She thought she used all her tears but apparently not when she felt tears prick her eyes.

Neither wanted to end the kiss and as Sebastian began to deepen the kiss Lily pulled back.

They were delaying the inevitable. And each second she sat in front him the more the dagger drove deeper into her heart.

Lily stood up on shaking legs. She grabbed her purse and walked towards the door.

She paused with her hand on the doorknob debating whether or not to look back at the man who would forever hold her heart.

Lily glanced back.

Sebastian stood near the living room with his hands in pockets. His red rimmed eyes bore into hers. She sucked in a breath before turning around and walking out the door.

They say the greatest loves of all time are over now.

And that's exactly how Lily felt. Losing Sebastian was losing a part of herself. Without Sebastian she felt nothing.

They were forever intertwined.

Lily drove around the city with no direction in mind. Her mind and heart were at war. Her dream role was offered to her but her heart longed for Sebastian.

She sat idling at the stop light.

I ask the traffic lights if it'll be all right
They say, "I don't know"
*
You said it was a great love
One for the ages
But if the story's over
Why am I still writing pages?

Lily realized she was at the intersection that could lead her away from the city or back to Sebastian.

Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath Lily thought of her future.

What did she see?

What did she want to see?

She opened her eyes just as the light turned green.

Another deep breath and she made her choice.
