"Eerghhhhhh!-" you gagged. "Connor no fuckin' shot you just did that shit..."
He turned to face you. "I'm sorry, I should have warned you. I am simply analyzing the blood."
"Analyzing...."
"I can check samples in real-time."
"Can you analyze anything?"
"Yes."
"Anything?.."
"Correct."
...
"Hehe, that's cool."
Connor walked over to the wall, you following suit. Like the other crime scenes, the deviant seemed to have a strange obsession with RA9.
Hank walked in, standing beside you. "Any idea what it means?"
"RA9... written 2471 times... It's the same sign Ortiz's android wrote on the shower wall..." he paused for a moment, looking at you and Hank before turning back. "Why are they obsessed with this sign?...."
Hank walked closer. "Looks like mazes or something..." he muttered.
Both of you left for the other room, leaving Connor by himself.
He looked up to the ceiling. The building was heavily broken down.
He turned back to the wall, noticing a chair knocked over to the side. He knelt down, analyzing the scene, and after a few short moments, he was able to reconstruct what happened in this room.
He joined you and Hank in the other room.
"Birdseed... I can't believe it. This nutjob was actually feeding these fuckers..."
"Dude, what? They're cute! Sometimes I go to the park just to feed them."
"Ugh..."
Connor walked over to a birdcage on the ground. He knelt down and began analyzing it. The metal hook meant to suspend it was recently broken, despite being 100% stainless steel. There were finger marks on the cage but no prints, and the bottom of the cage was recently scuffed.
Connor stood up, taking a step back. He was reconstructing the scene.
...The suspect was still here.
He turned his attention over to the chair in the corner of the room.
He walked over, looking up into the broken-down ceiling. He squinted his eyes, trying to get a better look when all of a sudden the suspect dropped down, knocking Connor to the floor. The commotion stirred up the pigeons, disorienting Hank. "God damn fuckin' pigeons!" he said, swatting them out of his face. "What are you two waiting for?! Chase it!"
And THIS was the moment you were waiting for... a good use of adrenaline. This was your favorite part of being a cop. The chase. Being out for that week had you craving the excitement of it all. the danger, the wind in your hair, the power.
You lived for it
You loved it.
Loved it...
You ran after the deviant, chasing it through the hallway. It knocked over a shelf in an attempt to slow you down, but you effortlessly jumped over it, still hot on the deviant's trail.
You burst through the door leading to the rooftop, hopping over an AC unit and jumping down into a field of wheat.
You climbed up the side of a shipment truck, keeping the suspect in your sights.
The deviant ran through a greenhouse. You looked inside, but it was way too crowded, so you chose to go around, quickly catching back up with it.
You slid down a glass roof, jumping through a broken window. The deviant ran through a gate, it closing behind them, so you took a detour through a field of lavender.
There was only one way the deviant could go from there. You quickly climbed a ladder up to another rooftop. You could see the deviant; he was sliding down another glass roof.
You almost followed after him until you noticed a train going by. You stopped in your tracks, hitting your stomach on the ledge of the roof. "Dude... fuck that..." you said between breaths.
Suddenly, a figure dashed by you; it was Connor. He slid down the roof, hopping onto the roof of the train. Your jaw was slacked... you couldn't lie, he looked really hot doing it. He jumped off onto a ladder and disappeared from your view. You looked around, trying to find a shortcut to catch up.
The train passed, and you found an opening. You slid down the glass, hopping onto the tracks. You went around, bursting into another apartment building. You took the elevator to the top, and you slammed open the door to the rooftop, Connor arriving at the same time as you.
"STOP RIGHT THERE!" Hank yelled out, trying to apprehend the deviant, but it pushed Hank off the side of the roof. He clung on for dear life, so of course, you went to save him. "I've got Hank; you chase it!" Connor instructed, and so you did, jumping down onto some raised plant beds, probably killing a few of whatever was being grown.
You chased it to the edge of the rooftop, where it had nowhere else to go. It turned around, facing you.
"Please, I've done nothing wrong... I just wanted to be free. You know what they'll do to me if you turn me in..." the deviant spoke, though it almost seemed like he was looking past you.
"Model 874 004 961," Connor spoke from behind, startling you in the process. "Serious malfunctions have been detected in your software, including class 4 errors." He began walking closer, standing beside you. "You've been deemed defective and will be sent back to Cyberlife for deactivation." You could hear Hank's loud breathing as he approached. He stopped right in front of the deviant, trying to catch his breath, his hands on his knees. "Come here," he panted out, grabbing his cuffs and beginning to lock them around the deviant's wrists. "Fuckin' bastard threw me off a roof!" he grumbled.
"Why are you doing this?.." the deviant spoke, looking Connor in the eyes. "Alright," Hank sighed out. "You're one of us!"
"Shut up!" Hank said, shaking the deviant by the arm.
"You're helping humans... But you're just their slave!"
Having had enough, Hank smacked the back of its head. "I said shut up!" he yelled through gritted teeth.
The deviant glared at Connor, and you couldn't help but feel remorse... he just wanted to be free, and now he'll die. History loves to repeat itself, huh?
"Alright," Hank sighed, once getting the cuffs on. "Come along." He led the deviant in front of him; you and Connor followed along.
"rA9, save me..." you heard the deviant mutter before breaking away from Hank's grip. "Hey! What the f-" Hank yelled out. The three of you chased behind it, but it was useless. It jumped off the side of the building, killing itself. The sound of shattering glass was heard, a car alarm following behind.
"Holy shit..." muttered, looking down at the body sprawled across the roof of someone's car.
"Fuck..." Hank sighed, turning around to exit. You and Connor followed.
