Chapter 14- Darkest Hour (Part 2)

"No. It will cyber-form your planet in favor of its new matrix, destroying all indigenous life in the process." Optimus answered.

"Such raw power! What should I call my new domain? New Kaon? Or perhaps 'Gilded Earth'." Megatron sneered.

Jack banged his fists against the glass.

"No!" Jack cried out.

"You heartless assholes!" Lydia yelled angrily.

"Leave our planet alone!" Miko yelled.

Megatron, Knockout, and Starscream laughed maniacally. Shadowblade remained silent as he looked at the ground with a hint of regret. Optimus turns his hand into an arm blade and slices through some Vehicons. He heads towards the Star Saber and pulls it out of the ground.

Optimus sends more Vehicons aside with a light blue energy wave. He slices Megatron's right arm off, causing the Dark Star Saber to pierce into the ground. Megatron groaned in pain. Starscream fires a missile at Optimus, who moves his helm.

He leaps into the air and destroys the Omega Lock with the Star Saber. An explosion blows the Vehicons away. The energy beam disappears on Earth. Back at the Base, Rachet is still trying to contact Optimus.

"Optimus, can you read?" Rachet asked.

"Rachet, please open a Space Bridge." said Optimus.

Back on Cybertron, the entire area is covered in flames and rubble. The Space Bridge appears. Arcee, Periwinkle, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Smokescreen and Optimus go through it before it disappears. Starscream gets up just as Shadowblade did. Starscream looks at the flaming area in horror.

"I guess we should cancel the welcome-home party-" Knockout is interrupted when Starscream smacks him aside.

"Attend to our Master! He requires medical attention!" Starscream ordered.

Knockout heads to Megatron's aid.

"Prime! He will pay for dooming Cybertron to remain a lifeless husk!"

Megatron starts to laugh maniacally.

"They can run, but they can never again run home." Megatron sneered.

Back at the Base, the others return back through the Ground with their human friends still in the pods. Rachet is shocked to see this.

"The children! What happened?" Rachet asked.

Nobody answered. Periwinkle removed the lid and scooped Lydia out of the pod. She gently hugs the brunette teen closer to her before placing her on the platform.

"Somebody say something!"

"Optimus... destroyed the Omega Lock." Bulkhead answered sadly.

"What? You did-" Rachet asked, but Optimus interrupted.

"There was no time for another prolonged battle, Not with Earth in imminent danger." Optimus tells him.

"So you destroyed the only device in any universe capable of restoring our home? Optimus, we needed that." Rachet says sadly.

"You weren't there, Doc. And it's not your place to second-guess a battlefield decision." Smokescreen stated.

"It most certainly is! There had to be another way!" Rachet claimed.

"It wasn't that simple, Rachet." said Jack.

"Megatron was using the Omega lock to attack the Earth." Raf explained.

"Optimus saved our planet." Miko added.

"It was a necessary sacrifice." Lydia stated.

"What about our planet?! All of our struggles and Energon spilled and countless sacrifices for nothing?!" Rachet asked angrily.
