The day of the meeting arrived and the two Fittes agents were seated in Penelope's office, talking mindlessly with the woman as they waited for Lockwood and Co to arrive. Sabrina was more nervous than she had intended, glancing around the room she had been in a million times before, looking at all the photographs, the expensive furniture and the displays of antique rapiers — which Penelope had given her explanations of many times before.

Tugging anxiously on her dress, she nodded along, barely listening to what was said to her. As it was a meeting, Sabrina wore a black dress that ended mid thigh with lace trimmings sewn into the ends. At her waist, there was a matching belt wrapped around her middle. She had paired it with tights and the shoes her mother had bought her months ago, never having a time to wear them. Before she had left the house, she spent ages staring at her reflection and frowning, wondering if perhaps she looked like she was attending a funeral.
