Escaping The Slaves - Part II

Start from the beginning

In order to prevent the mist moving them any direction again, like the first time, Inkling cast a spell which had the mist allow them to pass through without any risk of injury.

"Hey!"

As they turned their heads, Innes' angry face was there.

"You are all coming with me!" he demanded them.

"Go!" Ollum called, as he stood as a shield between Innes and the crew.

The Octonauts carried on running before they could hear anymore. They ran past the eight stalagmites, past the fishes and creatures that were still swimming around, and towards the cloudy wall between Aeseganora and the maze of caves. Ollum watched from afar, in spite of Innes' manhandling of him, to make sure they were safe.

"I'll see you around!" he gasped out, as Innes grabbed hold of him and pinned him down to the ground in a chokehold.

A bright fire of hope ignited in them as they went off. Nothing was going to stop the Octonauts now!

****************

They stepped through the mist and back into the caves, and they stopped suddenly, their faces a sudden mixture of shock, confusion and horror. They looked around desperately at what they saw, feeling their chests getting tight.

Something was very, very wrong.

"Oh no!" Inkling said, unable to believe his eyes.

Of all of the things the Octonauts were expecting, none of them had ever imagined this. The Octopod was supposed to still be there, waiting for them. But instead, it was... destroyed. Broken. In pieces.

They were too late.

"Oh me oh my," Tweak's voice cracked. "The Octopod!"

Among the focusing and un-focusing of her eyesight, she could see something on the ground; a thin piece of paper.

And as she opened it and read it, the grief on her face only turned into a picture of heartbreak, like she'd just been punched in the face.

"Oh no!" she sniffed. "Oh no no no no no no no no!"

"What is it, Tweak?" Barnacles asked, as he took the paper off her shaking paws.

Barnacles turned the note over, and saw a message on the reverse side, which said:

Nothing left for any of you now, is there?

Innes

Barnacles' face darkened, turning red with rage. His paws clenched tightly, and his teeth became gritted. He couldn't let Innes get away with this - destroying their home, which Tweak had built. Their home, which they had travelled the world upon, which they had explored places, rescued and protected creatures upon...

None of the other crew tried to calm him down - they were all feeling exactly the same as him, and they just let him feel it.

"INNES!" he roared, stepping towards the mist as if he were about to jump on top of him and kill him.

At that moment, as if it were a coincidence, Innes came through, his face as evil as ever.

"Are you lost, little animals?" he snarled. "Or, to be more specific, are you homeless?"
