"I honestly think I knew before you did. Back at the convenience store,"
"That was too early to tell."
"For you." Minju chuckles once more, "For you, it was. Oftentimes, people outside of the situation notice before anyone else does."
The older girl exhales through her nose. There was no way she stopped loving Minju at that moment.
"It was subtle. When we held hands on the table and she walked in, I saw your eyes. Your eyes were different. I knew you hated her but when you turned and you met eyes, there wasn't any hate there. You looked guilty if anything..." Minju whispered the last part and Chaewon swallowed the lump in her throat.
"No, I don't mean it that way- I just meant-"
"You don't like me anymore." Minju boldly says and Chaewon had no other choice but to admit. They were there already, anyway. "I don't like you anymore. That's all."
"You like someone else."
"I don't."
"You do and you can't accept it at all-"
"No. You're wrong. All this time, I have loved you until the very moment where she-..." Chaewon gulps. "When... when Yunjin confessed."
Minju sighs. How could Chaewon be this clueless? With her own emotions and with Yunjin's emotions. "I swear it was always you. It's always been you!"
"I'm not calling you a liar for your feelings towards me. I believe you when you say you love me but, unnie... it's obvious that I no longer pique your interest. I am no longer the person you want to see. And that's okay."
"No, it's not. It's not okay-"
The taller girl holds Chaewon's shoulder, shaking her a bit as they stare at each other. Chaewon looked pathetic. She was close to crying and her eyes were already swollen. She must have been crying and Minju can't help but feel sorry for her.
"It's okay."
"How could you come up with something this ridiculous? While you were away, it was you I was thinking of! It felt like you were still there beside me and I felt everything- I felt your warmth, I felt your presence even when you were not near, I knew it was still you!"
The younger girl bit the insides of her cheeks and she gripped the older girl's shoulders tighter, "And who were you with when you felt those emotions?"
That's when everything hit Chaewon. She stared at Minju's face while the rotting cogs in her brain started to move and function. When she felt calm and felt at home, it was under Huh Yunjin's presence. When she felt the warmth that Minju provided, it was when she would feel Yunjin's gentle hands on her waist, leading her and making her dance on stage.
When she felt safe, it was when she heard Yunjin's voice, reciting her lines like it was her own thoughts. When she felt loved, it was when she would feel Yunjin's gaze.
It was all Yunjin. It was all her. All the emotions that she felt around Minju was what she felt whenever Yunjin was around.
Minju wasn't the ridiculous one. It was Chaewon. She was ridiculous for not seeing the signs. For not opening her eyes and picking up every little action that Yunjin would do.
The girl did nothing but love her, damn it- how could she not have noticed anything?
"You were blinded by hatred to even notice how much she loved and cared for you." Minju finally releases the older girl and she takes a step back. "It wasn't me. I wasn't there, Chaewon."
"I know... but..."
"Go." Minju pulls her arm before pushing her forward, making her walk down the hall. Chaewon stared at her, confused. "What?"
