Bai Wei left the room and walked down to the hall to knock on another door. After hearing a muffled acknowledgement, Bai Wei opened the door to see Jiang Long in a white suit with black embellishments on it. Their outfits were a matching set that in the words of Jiang Long 'showed off their great friendship to the world'. Bai Wei mentally noted down this declaration of friendship and made a vow to collect his dues on this matter later.
Still, Bai Wei couldn't help but appreciate Jiang Long's appearance. A broad chest, a tall stature, and an angular face that matched his sword shaped eyebrows. The man had matured over the past years from a high mountain flower into a glorious golden dragon.
Jiang Long smiled a dazzling smile upon seeing that it was Bai Wei who walked in. He gestured to Bai Wei to come over and showed him a few broaches that had a green color that was similar to Bai Wei's eyes, asking the other to help him pick out which one to wear. Bai Wei mentally guessed the value of these pins as they shimmered in a greenish hue refracting light back onto his hands before looking into Jiang Long's eyes that had been watching him incessantly since he entered the room. Bai Wei looked back at the pins for a moment longer before picking the shiniest one and pinning it on Jiang Longs lapel.
The two walked into the ballroom together, with Bai Wei only half a step behind Jiang Long. The entire banquet stopped and looked while they entered the room; a hushed whisper took over the ballroom as the people gawked at their appearances. Suddenly, the emperor's loud booming voice reached over the ballroom and greeted them as they walked towards him. The emperor's eyes shined with glee as he saw his only son return gloriously from war. He felt assured that the country would be fine after his reign.
The crowning ceremony went off without a hitch. Bai Wei gaining his title and Jiang Long gaining a golden crown. With the white suit and his golden crown, Jiang Long looked like the picture-perfect prince from storybooks. After the ceremony finished, the two became separated as multiple nobles were itching to get in the good graces of the future emperor. Jiang Long felt a headache begin to form as he talked to the same nobles that used to ignore him completely. He watched as their eyes that used to look at him in disgust now filled with admiration and greed.
After worming his way out of the crowd, he was then assaulted by a group of young ladies. Each testing the limits as they rushed to get his attention with their gorgeous dresses and elaborate hairstyles. The mixture of so many perfumes made Jiang Long want to hurl. By the time Jiang Long got away from all these people he was exhausted and missed the company of his trusted friend, Bai Wei. Jiang Long began discreetly looking for his friend as he navigated the ballroom. His search was soon fruitful as he found Bai Wei over by the food table munching down on a small plate of fruit and sweets. Jiang Long chuckled to himself that Bai Wei was still a kid on the inside despite having grown up.
However, Jiang Long's thoughts came to a halt as he approached further and saw that Bai Wei was holding what seemed like a interesting conversation with someone. Not just anyone either, he was talking to a woman!
Jiang Long strode over with large steps as he became more infuriated by the second. Someone dared to steal away his Bai Wei from underneath his nose???
Wait. His Bai Wei?

Jiang Long stopped walking to think through his feelings towards his friend but quickly started walking again when the woman reached out her hand towards Bai Wei.
Jiang Long quickly stepped in between the two and separated Bai Wei from the woman. He smiled at the woman sweetly and softly cajoled her away in the name of talking to his friend alone. He then looked down at Bai Wei who was pouting cutely at his intervention in the conversation.
Jiang Long had a momentary impulse to give Bai Wei anything he wanted before remembering that what he wanted was to have a deep conversation with someone who was not himself. Jiang Long's rage once again soared at this thought. Jiang Long was about to say something to Bai Wei when someone else approached them.
It was the woman who he had once sworn his devoted love to. The woman he had not seen in two and a half years.
"Long time no see you two!" Jia Jinxing said in a cheerful voice.
