While on the dance floor, Jennie noticed the cute vocalist abandoning the mic at the middle of the stage. Another singer with a smooth voice replaced him, singing a love song "If You're Not The One" by Daniel Bedingfield.

Every couple at the dance floor started dancing closer to their partners, that's when she realized she was dancing on her own. But she also noted the vocalist walking towards her direction. He was smiling somewhat shyly. How cute. Maybe a harmless little flirting won't be that bad.

He had longish, fringy hairstyle parted at the side. His bangs partly covered his left eye. Strong jaw line, pronounced adam's apple with Roman shaped nose.

They both said "Hi" to each other when they were only a couple of feet apart. He mouthed "May I?" She mouthed back "Sure." She put her hands above his shoulders. He put his hands on her waist. The guy was not that tall for a man, same height as Lisa at most.

"I'm Elexis with an E," he whispered.

"Jennie."

"With a J?"

She giggled. "Exactly!" the guy smelled of smoke, faint sweat and musky cologne.

"I noticed you when you arrived. I was just unsure if you were with someone from the group you came here with. I got confused if the tall one was your girlfriend, which is cool if she was. Then I thought maybe she was not. Then again—"

"She's my friend." And speaking of her friend... Lisa was glaring at their direction, while Honey was so into the slow dancing. Or maybe she was faking it, probably busy creating some masterplan how to smooch off more from Lisa. Bitch. The blonde's head was pressed against Lisa's shoulders, eyes closed, she was unaware how her girlfriend was making funny faces at Jennie and Elexis—Lisa was sticking her tongue out like a kid, eyebrows furrowing, shooting daggers with her eyes then mouthing words without sound but Jennie was sure it was targeted at Elexis.

"Would you mind if I ask for your number?" Elexis asked while she was busy having a sticking-tongue-out contest with Lisa.

"Eight-two-..."

Elexis laughed. "Can you please put it on my phone?"

"Just try memorize the two-nine-eight-three-five-six-two-two."

He repeated the number. He did get it right, but when Jennie asked for him to recite it again, the numbers got jumbled up.

"Never mind then. At least you can sing well." She said. Was that so difficult to memorize? There were only eight numbers to remember! That was a turn-off for Jennie. She always liked smart people with sharp memories.

Elexis thought she was kidding and sniggered. She just laughed along. After a few seconds, the guy murmured if she wanted to join him and his band to hang-out after their gig.

"No, thanks. I have company." Jennie almost rolled her eyes. Did this guy really think she was a groupie? The boy was too confident, she didn't even know the name of his band.

"It looks like you're bored with your group, anyway."

Well, at least he was perceptive.

"And you seem the type who has her own mind and do what she wants," he added.

"Bold of you to assume." It was just a nicer words to hear but there was an underlying message there. This dude thought of her as easy, a type of person who's game for everything. The guy was obviously too immature to think everyone who will show a miniscule interest to him was all up for a quick fuck. Jennie's fancy to this guy, finding him cute earlier, quickly fizzled out.

"Thanks for the dance." She politely add after the song ended.

"Let me buy you a drink."

"No, thanks." The guy was still holding her waist.
