"Ha! I knew that little brat couldn't keep up with us for that long," Meowth sneered.

"Now all we have to do is bring this Pikachu back to boss, and we'll get paid a fortune!" fantasized James.

Pikachu gave up kicking and yelling; he knew there was no hope. He just lied there, thinking about what would happen to him. He cried himself to sleep.

When he woke, the same thoughts continued swimming around in his head. His whole life was being taken away from him just now. He didn't even get to say goodbye to Ash, and now he might never see him again.

"No," Pikachu thought to himself, the expression on his face growing more and more stern. "I won't let this happen."

Pikachu peeked over the top of the bag. The bag was hanging over James's back, and no one was looking. He slowly slipped from the bag, heart in his throat and pounding hard. Pikachu landed with a thump on the mossy dampness of the forest grass. He studied his surroundings, light-headed from lack of oxygen in the bag. He just escaped from danger, but a new one came just as quickly.

Surviving alone in the jungle would not be an easy task. Pikachu looked down sadly at his stomach as it rumbled. He needed to eat. He scanned the trees, hoping for a bush of berries or a fruit tree. He sighed in frustration. Nothing. Eating would have to wait.

Pikachu looked around in a circle. He wasn't sure which direction the camp was. He was tired, hungry, and all alone. He could no longer see Team Rocket.

Pikachu yawned and looked around for a place to sleep. After finding a suitable patch of moss, he nestled into its squishy comfort and closed his eyes.
