She gathered a decent pile of kindling.

Crouching down beside it, she grabbed two sticks.

She stroked them together to ignite flames.

Yet embers did not appear in the pile.

Thinking for a moment, she reached for flint.

Using the flint, a mighty fire emerged.

The smoke from the fire brushed against her face.

She breathed in the scent of the burning wood.

Now the flames leapt, they danced, they bounced around.

They were celebrating life in the world.

She sat back and watched; Her eyes mesmerized.

The flames were beautiful in size and strength.

They seemed to be performing for her now.

Vibrating in the wind, embers flexing.

They seemed to call her to celebrate with them.

So, she danced, her shadow mingled with fire.

Eventually the night would tire her out.

The fire simmered down into a low glow.

She bowed and gave thanks to those mighty flames.

For they kindled a love she had not known.
