The Judge

"Come here and I'll tell you the big secret."

She gestured her hand to beckon me there.

I moved over to her and leaned in close.

She got closer and whispered in my ear.

"Everything is going to end today."

Her breath tickled my ear as she had spoke.

I looked at her with great confusion.

I asked her what she meant about the end.

"The big secret is there are no secrets."

Her eyes widened and her hands extended.

"The judge has seen all and ruled us guilty."

I rolled my eyes and said she spoke nonsense.

"It's all true!" she shouted in a frenzy.

"We are all guilty. We just don't know it."

"Guilty of what we did do and didn't do."

"Guilty of what we said, heard, smelt, felt, taste!"

I got up and started to walk away.

Suddenly she let out a shriek and fell.

Convulsing and contorting on the ground.

I rushed back and knelt down to try and help.

My hands went under her head to raise it.

I encouraged her to relax with words.

"I can see the judge," her lips sputtered out.

"His robe is white, his powdered wig is black."

"His gavel is made of flames that burn blue."

"His sword is made of emeralds, his eyes-gold."

These last few words were choked out as she died.

There was not a single person near us.
