Chapter 7

Samuel's POV

It's been about 2 months since I first met Audrey and Katie, and my life has never been better. Audrey and Jake get along really well, and so do Katie and I. Knowing how Audrey is, and how I am, that would be the only thing that would keep us from being together. I'm thinking of asking Audrey to be my girlfriend, but I'm going to ask Katie for her permission first. Right now I'm on my way to pick Jake and Katie up from school, Audrey called and said that she got caught up at work this afternoon. Once I arrived to the school I noticed Katie was talking with the teacher.

"Mommy really likes him! She talks about him all the time!" Katie smiled

"Oh my! Well that's good. I'm happy for your mama, she deserves this!"

"Hey guys, you ready to go?" I said making presence known.

"Hi Mr. Samuel!" Katie said hopping off the desk.

"Hey dad!!" Jake said running over to hug me.

"Go get your bags so we can hurry and get some ice cream!" I said smiling

"Yayyy!!" They screamed running off.

"Hi, I'm Natalie" she said extending her hand.

"Samuel! So I hear you and Audrey are best friends?" I asked

"Yeah, we've known each other for years! She's been through a lot, and I'm glad to see her happy again." She said smiling at me.

"I know. She didn't deserve any of that. And I'm glad that she's happy. She has no idea how much I like her. Audrey and Katie are incredible!" I found myself smiling as I said her name.

"It was nice talking to you! I hope to see you around!" Natalie smiled.

"I'm sure Audrey will plan something!"

On the way to Audrey's house we stopped at Baskin Robbins to get ice cream. I got Audrey strawberry cheesecake ice cream.
When we got to the house, Katie took us around back, and through the backdoor, since they keep it unlocked.

Katie and Jake started watching tv, and I walked upstairs to lay a bouquet of roses on Audrey's bed.

I walked back downstairs and called Katie into the kitchen.

"Hey!" She said hopping up on the counter.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" I asked her.

"Mhmm" she nodded

"Well, Katie I want you to know that I really like your mom. A lot actually. You two make Jake and I extremely happy, and I'm very thankful that I get to be apart of your lives. And I know you're probably confused on why I'm telling you this, but I want to ask you something..." I said letting it hang.

"Okay, shoot!" She smiled.

"Do I have your permission to ask your mom, to be my girlfriend?"

"Oh my gosh YES!!!!" She yelled

I couldn't help but laugh at her. She stood up on the counter and jumped into my arms.

"Thank you for making mommy happy!" She whispered.

Audrey's POV

As I walked in the house I heard Katie say;

"Thank you for making mommy happy."

I wonder what that's about. When I walked into the kitchen I saw Katie in Samuel's arms, hugging him. I couldn't help but smile. This is the sweetest thing I've seen.

"Hey what's going on?" I asked scratching Katie's back

"Mommy you're home!" She said jumping into my arms

"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" I asked brushing her hair back.

"It was great! I'm going to play with Jake!" She said running out.

"Hi!" I said taking a deep breath.

"Hey." He said kissing my cheek.

"Thank you so much for getting Katie!" I smiled.

"It's not a problem. Let me know if you ever need anything." He said

"I would invite you to stay for dinner, but my mom is on her way over, and we haven't seen her in a long time." I sighed

"No it's completely fine. Tomorrow's Friday, so we can go out then! Sound good?" He asked grabbing his keys.

"Sounds good!" I said softly

"Jake, time to go bud!"

"Okay, bye Katie, see you tomorrow!"

"Bye!" Katie smiled

"Bye Ms. Audrey!" Jake said hugging me.

"Bye sweetie." I said patting his back

I walked with them to the front door, and Jake took off running to the truck.

"Thanks again!" I smiled

"You don't have to thank me! Oh and there's a surprise in the freezer for you!" He said kissing my cheek, and walking to his truck.

This man. He's perfect.

Samuel's POV

I think tomorrow, I'm going to ask Audrey to be my girlfriend, and I have the perfect way. She deserves nothing less, than the best.
