Pap… pap… pap… He can feel a paw hitting his face.

“Tommy.” A voice whispers.

Pap, pap, pap. Just a bit harder.

“Pleh, pleh! Ginger, get your paw out of my face!”

Ginger leaps off the bed as Tommy opens his eyes.

“Why in the realms did you wake me, Ginger?” He questions, rubbing his eyes.

“I’m hungry, daaad.”

“I thought you were waking me up for something important.” He rolls over, facing away from the half-fox. “You can cook for yourself.”

“But your cooking is sooo much better.”

“Let me sleep.”

Ginger curts. “Fine. I'll just go buy myself something to eat and let you sleep.”

“Keep alert,” Tommy mutters, closing his eyes.

The half-fox pads over to the door. “Always.”

He hears the door open and shut.

Time flows like the rush of a stream. Moon high in the sky. Stars glittering the sky.

On his back, Tommy lays sprawled out, blanket folded beneath him. He maneuvers himself upright and drops to his feet. He strolls over to the window.

He teleports a project he has been working on to himself.

Sitting on the floor under the windowsill the moonlight beams on his work. The moonlit room and the silence of the night are the perfect conditions to bring the beating of your heart to a serene pace.

He hums to himself a familiar song, yet the room is filled with silence ever so still. Emptiness flows through his mind, not needing to think about the next stitch. His hands move for he has sewn for many years.

Before he knows it, the sun had begun to replace the moon.

In his hands was a bee-patterned cloak. It’s finished. Not a stitch out of place.

A tired smile spreads across Tommy’s face as he drapes the cloak over one of the chairs.

His supplies whisk away with effortless skill.

Tommy stands at the window as the sun rises and the moon falls.
