The Angel of Death of Gotham City

Prolouge

I can still remember my life in the Covenant of Light Church to this day. Being found by the nuns and priests there, sleeping in a basket at their door steps. And a note that gave me only a name, Nathaniel.

I came to be under their care, raised into the beliefs of God and becoming a family. Then, when I was a young boy, about 7 years old, I discovered my Gifts. It happened when I was watching the dove soar in the sky, I imagined myself in my young mind as a bird, then it happened! I saw a flash of bright golden light and blinded me for a moment. When it died down and I opened my eyes, I noticed everything was bigger then remembered, my whole body felt like it was being blanketed by something soft. When I looked at my body, it looked like a Dove! I was so shocked that I suddenly shifted back to my human form. I didn't know what to do, my mind only thought of keeping this to myself, to never tell anyone of this because I was afraid, like most children who don't understand things. I managed to keep this secret for a while, but secrets often find a way to become revealed. Father Anderson caught me transforming into a Dove and flew into the sky, when I returned to the ground, Father Anderson was waiting there, wishing to know what he witnessed. I was frozen with fear, scared that they would me for being different, for not being normal. Tears streamed down my face as I looked down with shame and fear. But I felt a part of warm hands on my shoulders, I looked up and saw Father Anderson knelt down and looked with worry. I gather my courage and tried to explain this situation as best I could. Father understood the lack of knowledge about my own powers and said that this could have been a test from God, and he know some people that could help Me with my powers.

That was then I met Them. The Order of St.Dumas. An old order that has existed for a long time, bringing divine justice to the wicked and sinful. It was created by a man named Saint Dumas, during the Spanish Inquisition. He despised how the Inquisitors would unjustly punished the common people for having different beliefs, and believed that God would be angered by how his children would be slaughter by those that would DARE call themselves HIS followers.

Saint Dumas was a true follower of God, not a tool of man and their corruption. That was then he had an idea, he would create a group that would rebel against the Inquisitors with the help of the Roman Catholics. From there on, they would assassinate dangerous Inquisitors, steal gold from the rich and powerful and be given to the poor, liberate prisoners of the Iquistion, and recruit people that were outcasted from cities.

When Saint Dumas passed away, his followers would call themselves the Order of St.Dumas as a tribute to their founder and leader, and they would become God's Instruments.

They grew stronger as their Crusade against the Spanish Inquisition continued, killing tyrants as well and taking all plummeted their valuables. One of them would be Count Raymond VII of Toulouse, who was pinned to the wall of throne room in a similar to how Jesus Christ was as a mockery to the "Followers of Chirst."

Another significant kill was an Inquisitor named Diego Rodriguez Lucero, also known as "The Bringer of Darkness". He was arrested in Rome for his crimes and executed. He was stripped of his clothes and was branded with the word "LUST" on his chest and back, then thrown into an Iron Maiden and bled to death from within it. A poetic execution for a man who would have Womens' husbands and parents killed and take them as his mistresses.

The Spanish Inquisition finally came to an end after more than 300 years by the Spanish Queen Maria Cristina de Borbon. The Order went into hiding once the Inquisition came to an end, building and strengthening their order should the Evils of corruption return to threaten humanity once again.
