Pony's POV:
May 12th, some time between 2005 & 2015
I was out on the field checking on the strawberries. They were looking good, maybe some ready to be picked soon. Then I saw that kid walking. Barely know his name, maybe JJ or some shit?

He always looked lonely, some of my friends even talked about him behind his back.

"He looks like a little bitch."

"You know that kid gets abused like a damn dog?" They laughed.

"Yeah, it's probably because he looks like one." They laughed harder.

I don't find it funny. I never did. Talking about someone who's going tough time is never okay. Or maybe I just care so much because my family's been through a tough time.
My dad died ten years ago in a car accident.
My momma didn't get in a car for eight months after that. And some weeks our house was quiet.
Quiet like no one's home. And sometimes when it's quiet now, I think about him coming home and kissing momma back to life.

So when I see this kid walking on the other side of our land where the flowers are. (People often take pictures there, some even pay us to.) I walk over to him, and he watches my steps the whole way there like I'm going to beat him up.

I reach out for him to shake my hand and he does, "howdy, I'm Ponyboy. You are?"

"Johnny." He nods.

"Aw I was close, in my head I was thinking 'JJ'. I've seen you at school." I tell him.

"I've seen you at school before too, I never realized you noticed me though." He looks down at the ground like he's a nobody. But he's not a nobody he's a person.

"You're hard to miss." I flip my hair to the side. I keep it like Justin.

"How?" He looks worried for my answer.

"You have longer hair and it's curled, but not super curly and it's all flipped out and stuck. It's pretty though." I blush at my stupid compliments. I sound slow this kids probably just an Emo.

"Thank you." He tells me.

I start walking with him, "you like flowers?"

"I think they're beautiful and I love bees, but I don't know?"

"Bees?" That's not something people like everyday.

He swipes one up off a flower, "I think they're adorable, see how it's fuzzy?" He smiles as it flies away.

"Aren't you an angel?" I can't tell if I'm joking or not? Hm, an Emo that likes picking up bees.

Then I heard car rumbling next to us and a familiar loud voice, coming in crazy like always, "aw you're looking at flowers with your boyfriend, Ponyboy!?" If Steve Randle could open his mouth as wide for Soda as he did for me, maybe he could fit Soda's whole c-

"Shut the hell up, Steven!" I shout back.

"Where's Dreamy?" He asks me. The only person who doesn't know Steve likes Soda is Soda Curtis himself.

"He took Sandy out for a ride on a horse."

"That son of bitch. Always taking what's mine. She nothing but a spoiled little-" then he said a lot of different words that would make Momma very upset. "All she wants from him is his body and his money and this land. She doesn't want him like me, but he's a male bimbo, so he falls for every damn thing." He complains.

And finally he drives off in Steve frustration.
Too bad. That's all my brain is willing to think of the situation.

"Your brother's friend is a gay?" Johnny has a very soft voice.

"Something like that. He's had girlfriends too, but it's all whatever." I roll my eyes not wanting Steve to ruin this moment.
Wait, what moment?
"You got a girlfriend?" I ask.

"No, I've never had one. I'm a pretty quiet person." He does this little laugh.

"I did at some point in time. They were all pretty sweet, but none of them ever felt right and we kinda just fell out of it after a while." I shrug.

"I wonder what even is that like?" He shrugs.

"Why don't you try to get a girl? They're all pretty nice." I tell him.

"Hm, no. I think I'm still fine for now."
