Sonata is a pop band under ADOR (HYBE Labels) based in South Korea. The group consists of 5 members, Serena, Rin, Yubin, EunJae and Yeram. In 4th March, 2021, the group made their debut with the song 'Daylight', which later became a hit by the end of the year. Their Album, 'Lunar Sonata' sold 78 million copies in South Korea and 125 million copies worldwide.

The quintet has been well-liked by netizens and most audiences, receiving little to no negative reviews since their debut. In 2022, Their song 'Changed' won SOTY (Song Of The Year) among many others.

But everything wasn't all fame and glittery skies for them. One of the members, Serena, was pushed into a scandal, which circulated many buzz in the industry. It was a news disclosed by Dispatch, that the leader of the group, Serena, apparently has mistreated one of her stylists, even shouting and firing her.

Majority of the media reacted negatively to it, while some defended the member, saying its not wise to judge everything without knowing the whole story. Nevertheless, the scandal forever left a black mark on the group, especially on Serena.

The members tried defending, which only complicated the matter. To make it worse, Serena got into another scandal. A Twitter user posted a tweet claiming to be a victim of bullying and  mental manipulation, and claimed to have gone to the same school as the idol.

Some fans were shocked, but most believed it. Actually, everyone believed it, Serena was known for being reserved, cold, strict and rude to fans. It was expected that everyone would believe the news of her being a former bully.

That's where they had their downfall, people demanded that Serena should be removed from the group, and many more hurtful and rude comments towards the group. The members were still close, but netizens only thought that Serena was the leader, and without a leader, the group could not thrive. Their album sales downgraded by a lot, their views dropped, more buzz was created, and for all the wrong reasons.

After the constant hate, their company, ADOR, finally released the statement that the Twitter user's accusations were all false. This confirmed that Serena was not guilty, she was innocent, but it still continued to be a scar in her career.

Serena went on a 2-month-hiatus, only to return to a much worse state, after a while the company finally released a statement saying Serena had been diagnosed with depression. The hate-train continued, with people calling her an 'attention seeker' with the news of her being depressed.

Even through all of this, each of them stayed strong, not letting the hate get to them. The company was trying their best to stop, but whatever they did only made the situation worse.
