"But how do you say goodbye when your heart still wants to hold on?"

"Rehan, is something wrong? Why haven't you answered my calls? You could have at least dropped a text. Or did I do something to upset you? Are you mad at me, Han?" Lena bombarded Rehan with questions, but he looked lifeless.

After Yara left, he felt dead inside. There was no spark left in him. The moment she slipped away, he knew she was gone forever, and he could never hold her again. Their love was over, and he didn't know what to do next.

"Lena, why are you so attached to me?" he asked, hoping for an explanation.

Another realization hit him; he had never told Lena he loved her. There was no confession, nothing. They had just ended up together out of nowhere.

"Because I love you, dumbo," Lena chuckled, her innocence shining through.

"Love," Rehan's voice was barely audible, his heart heavy with guilt.

He had never loved her; it was just an attraction. Talking to her eased his stress, and her playful nature made him smile. But he had never considered loving her because his heart had always belonged to Yara.

"Are you okay, Han?" Lena's concerned voice brought him back to reality.

" I, Lena I" His tongue felt heavy, unable to form the words he wanted to say.

" Rehan, what's wrong? You doesn't look good" Lena reached out to touch his arm.

" Lena, it's not you. I just..." Rehan took a step back, avoiding her touch, his expression pained.

" Rehan, you are scaring me. Did something happen?" Lena's voice trembled with concern.

" I, I care for you Lena. I like you too but the.. there's no love, I am sorry for being like this. I, I love her in fact I have never stopped loving her." Each word he spoke was like a dagger to her heart, but the next sentnece he spoke tore her apart.

" We never brokeup" His next words crushed her delicate heart.

They had never broken up, he had never truly loved her.

" What was I in your life then? A time pass?" Her question hung in the air, her face drained of color as the truth sank in, leaving her shattered and broken.

" Lena, you were never just a time pass, you were a ray of light in my darkest days here when I felt like I had no one here, you were my only comfort. I treasured every moment we spent together, even if I couldn't offer you the love you deserved" Rehan had his head low, he himself didn't knew he was defending him.

" You are insane, are you thanking me now? for being the sunshine in your fucking life? Why did you lead me on and made me believe that I mean something to you, wh..why" She was now crying, sobbing hysterically.

" You were never honest with me, you let me believe that I had a place in your heart, but all along it was reserved for someone else" Tears spilled down her cheeks, while Rehan was mute he had nothing to respond to.

" I loved you, Rehan. With every fibre of my being, I loved you." She cried, her voice breaking because of the weight of her emotions.

" Lena, I am sorry. I was selfish, I am sorry" Rehan's voice held the regret he was feeling right now.

" Sorry?" She choked out, her voice laced with disbelief, " Sorry doesn't change anything, Rehan. You played with my feelings, you made me believe in a love that was never real"

The silence that followed was suffocating, the air heavy with unspoken words and shattered dreams. Rehan wanted to reach out to Lena, to comfort her and take back all the pain he had caused, but he knew that some wounds ran too deep to be healed with mere apologies.
