Script 20: Heart out

Start from the beginning

Yunjin carefully lays her down on her bed. Well, "tried" because she almost fell down the bed along with Chaewon.

Thankfully, she had stood firm and her other leg had stopped her from falling down completely. The older girl let out a quiet "oof" as her back made contact with the bed. As Yunjin stepped back, she huffed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

She only felt the exhaustion now that she was no longer carrying Chaewon on her back.

"Do you need anything before I leave?"

The older girl only hums as if she had already told Yunjin what she needs. Yunjin stared at her for a bit, waiting for her to actually respond, but it seemed that she wouldn't be responding any time soon.

Her eyes were closed shut, and she was already breathing evenly. She was already asleep.

Yunjin has already decided to get whatever she thinks Chaewon needs when she wakes up. Like water, maybe some medicine if she had a splitting headache. She even thought of getting her food, but she didn't have enough time.

Making soup was out of the question. The hotel must serve one in the morning. Yunjin doesn't have to worry about that anymore.

As she was about to leave, she found their egg baby, sitting between two thick handkerchiefs. It looked like a makeshift bed for the little egg.

Yunjin chuckles at the goofy doodle she put on the egg, finding it absolutely hilarious that she gave their egg baby ginger curls. She walked over to it and slowly removed it from its makeshift nest.

It's been days since she took care of the egg.

Chaewon has been taking care of it, but she's not even sure if the girl has already started doing their weekly paper report for it. She'll have to discuss it with her tomorrow.

She takes the egg with her, and she writes a little note saying that she took it just so that Chaewon doesn't panic when she sees the egg gone.

As she taped it beside the glass of water and medicine on the small bedside table, she stopped to examine Chaewon's face again. She felt her chest getting heavy as the memories of the events of everything that had Chaewon in it played in her head as if looking back in each one.

It hurt. It felt heavy.

This was the only time Yunjin had talked to Chaewon properly. Without her feeling Chaewon's hatred towards her. It just felt like a normal conversation between friends and should have made her happy.

But it didn't.

Because she knew that it would only happen once and never again, she would have to pray a thousand times a week for that to happen again.

She takes a deep breath and carefully reaches out to the girl. Gently tucking in a strand of Chaewon's hair behind her ear. Her actions were oh, so delicate. Calculated, even, as if Chaewon would break if she weren't gentle.

She looked pretty. Yunjin thought.

She always has.

As if on cue, Chaewon's phone lit up somewhere on the bed, and Yunjin just so happened to turn her head towards it. She saw Minju's name on it and immediately knew she shouldn't be looking at the girl's phone.

She's not that type of person, and she'd rather die than read something that could possibly hurt her. Actually, she'd rather die right then and there.

God, it hurt for her to breathe. She takes this as a sign to leave. She knew she couldn't stay any longer as she felt her eyes starting to sting.
