The younger girl let out a defeated sigh, "Come on, unnie. You still sound pretty drunk to me..."
"To you! I swear, I'm alright now." Chaewon tries to make eye contact with the younger girl, but the alcohol in her system is in control of everything in her. Her emotions and her actions.
With Yunjin infiltrating her brain and staying in her mind for days on end, the sober part of her knows that the alcohol would surely do something to her vulnerable emotions. So, she looks away.
She doesn't even know if she does it subtly. She's intoxicated enough not to feel the embarrassment yet. But she could still feel Yunjin's eyes on her.
"You know we might get in trouble if we stay out for too long."
"Since when were you this ..."
Yunjin raises an eyebrow at her as Chaewon finally looks back up at the girl, "What?"
"Responsible," Chaewon said as if the word was disgusting to her. Yunjin could've sworn that she saw Chaewon physically gag while saying it.
The redhead chuckles, rolling her eyes as she shrugs, "I've always been like this."
Chaewon hears her own voice at the back of her mind say, "Liar. You were never like this." and she couldn't agree more with herself.
"Spare me some time at least. The other night when you were the one intoxicated, I humored you." She pointed at Yunjin accusingly.
"Your point?" Yunjin raises an eyebrow at her once more.
"Why can't you do the same for me?"
Yunjin clenched her jaw at Chaewon's words. She, of all people, really had the guts to say that sentence... in front of Huh Yunjin, too.
"I'm humoring you by staying by your side. Isn't this enough?"
"Is my request too much for you, you big baby?" Chaewon taunted, and Yunjin rolled her eyes. She didn't know Chaewon could be so... insufferable.
But she is intoxicated after all.
When Yunjin doesn't respond, Chaewon continues. "Is hearing out my question and answering it such a big burden for you that you'd want to put me to bed so early, Huh?"
The redhead huffs after a while. She ends up sitting back down on the sand with a grumpy look on her face. She can't really deny Chaewon, can she? Even if she was becoming an insufferable drunk by the second.
Yunjin still has feelings for her, after all. There was no way she would get up and leave.
Plus, if she suddenly left Chaewon all alone out here, she might just find all of Chaewon's friends outside her hotel room door the following day, ready to kill her.
The fact that it was possible terrified Yunjin, but she found it funny simultaneously.
"Fine. Ask away." She finally gave in, and she didn't miss the way Chaewon's mouth stretched into a lazy drunken smirk. She looked as if she had won.
It was cute.
Of course, it was.
Because it was Chaewon.
The older girl cleared her throat as if her serious question could change the trajectory of Yunjin's life forever.
And Yunjin prepares for the worst.
"Just like the other time that you asked me, I'll throw the question back to you."
"What question?"
"You must like someone, I mean- why else would you be back here for, right?"
