"The most beautiful part is, I wasn't even looking when I found you."

The car ride to school was filled with silence and determination. As we both got out the car, we went out separate ways. My head was filled with so many questions I wanted to ask, but at the same time I was scared to ask. Walking into my first period I see Emmett at our usual spot. I sat down without saying a word to him. What do you say to a guy that is supposed to be a vampire?! "Starla?" I ignore him.

I feel him tap on my arm, "Starla please. Can we talk?" I sigh and move my chair over a bit. I might seem childish, but what would you do if you found out you are in the same room as a vampire? He sighs.

After class I quickly grab my things and try to rush out, only to feel a hand on my wrist. He slightly tightened his grip on my hand and leads me outside, away from any unwanted ears. He stops on the side of the building and shoves his hands in his pockets. "Star, please listen." I turned to face Emmett, his golden eyes filled with a mix of concern and apprehension. My heart raced in my chest as I looked at him, knowing that the truth was about to be revealed. Taking a deep breath, I nodded and gestured for him to speak.

"Starla, I know this must be overwhelming for you," Emmett began, his voice gentle yet tinged with an underlying seriousness. "But I need you to understand that we never meant for you to get involved in all of this. We tried to keep our true nature hidden for your safety."

I studied his face, searching for any signs of deception. "Why now, Emmett? Why reveal this to me?"

He let out a heavy sigh. "Bella found out, and Alice saw you there as well. We care about both of you, and we didn't want to put you in danger by hiding the truth."

A wave of conflicting emotions washed over me. Anger, confusion, and a strange sense of betrayal mingled together. "So, what? You expect me to just accept that you're vampires? That everything I thought I knew about you was a lie?"

Emmett's expression softened, and he reached forward to hold my wrist. "I understand how you feel, Starla. It's a lot to take in, and I wish things were different. But we've spent a long time trying to protect humans from our world. We're not like the stories you've heard. We don't hunt humans."

I took a step back, needing some distance to process everything. "But what about the Quileute legends? The Cold Ones? Are they real?"

Emmett nodded solemnly. "Yes, they're real. And there are others like us out there too. But we're not like the legends describe. We choose to live differently, to resist our natural instincts. We've formed a family, a coven, and we've learned to coexist with humans without causing harm."

His words echoed in my mind, and I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. "So, you're saying that you and your family... you're good vampires?"

A small smile tugged at the corners of Emmett's lips. "We're not perfect, but we try our best to do what's right. We've chosen to use our abilities for good, to protect and preserve life. And we've kept our secret hidden from the world for a reason."

As I listened to Emmett's explanation, a part of me wanted to believe him. Despite the fear and uncertainty, there was something genuine in his words. I realized that I had a choice to make, and it would shape the course of my future.

"Okay, Emmett," I finally said, my voice filled with a mix of determination and caution. "I'll hear you out, but know that my trust has been shaken. I need time to process all of this and decide if I can accept it."

Emmett nodded, understanding etched in his eyes. "I respect that, Starla. Take all the time you need. We'll be here if you have any questions or if you want to learn more." He turns but stops before saying, "I just want to let you know that no matter what you decide, just know that, I am in love with you Star."

With that, we both went our separate ways, each carrying the weight of newfound knowledge and the uncertainty of what lay ahead. The world around me seemed to shift, and I realized that nothing would ever be the same again.

In the days that followed, I found myself immersed in a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts. The revelation about the existence of vampires and the truth about the Cullens had turned my world upside down. I couldn't ignore the compelling evidence presented to me, and yet doubts and skepticism still lingered in the back of my mind.

During that time, Bella has tried to convince me to talk to Emmett. Apparently she had accepted Edward's Vampirism and now they are dating. I'm happy for her, but also scared. "Star?" I hear a knock on my door. I sigh knowing that it's Kiana on the other end, "Leave me alone Key."

Kiana's voice is filled with concern as she responds, "Star, I know this is a lot to process, but shutting yourself away won't make it any easier. Please, let me in. We're sisters, and I want to be here for you."

I snap my head toward the door, I unlock the door and Kiana steps inside, her eyes filled with empathy. "You knew?" She nods her head. "I knew from the start, the family is really different and incredibly pale, so it was a dead giveaway." She walks over to me and wraps her arms around me in a comforting embrace. "I can't pretend to understand what you're going through, but I want you to know that I'm here for you. You don't have to face this alone."

Tears start welling up in my eyes as I lean into her embrace, finally allowing myself to release some of the pent-up emotions. "It's just... so overwhelming, Kiana. I don't know what to believe anymore. How can I trust them?"

Kiana strokes my back gently, offering a soothing presence. "Trust takes time, Star. It's okay to have doubts and reservations. But remember, you have an opportunity to learn more, to ask questions, and to make an informed decision. What matters is what feels right to you."

I wipe away my tears and take a deep breath, finding a glimmer of strength within me. "You're right, Kiana. I need to confront Emmett and get the answers I need."

Kiana smiles at me, her supportive gaze unwavering. "I'll be right there by your side, Star. Well not really, but I'll be there in spirit. Just remember, you have the power to choose what you believe and how you want to move forward."

Taking a deep breath, I look at Kiana and offer her a small smile. "Thank you, Kiana. I'm ready to face this head-on."
