She hums as a response to Eunchae's words.
"But it sucks that she won't be here after the performance. She's going to be busy with her basketball practices and her band practices again." Chaewon lightly chuckles at the way Eunchae said those words.
She sounded like a kid. A sulking kid, to be exact.
"That's okay. You'll have to take your cousin's spot then."
Suddenly, Eunchae's smile almost dropped as if Chaewon had said something so offensive, and this time, Chaewon couldn't help but ask, "Why? What's wrong?"
"Well, about that, I'm actually planning on leaving the club after this semester ends..." The younger girl's voice sounded small, and Chaewon could barely hear her words.
But she did. She heard everything very clearly, and she felt sad hearing it. "You're leaving? Does Sieun know about it?"
Eunchae was confused as to why Chaewon sounded concerned. As far as Eunchae knows, she doesn't like Yunjin one bit... which only means she probably isn't fond of her either since they were related.
Just basic math in Eunchae's innocent little mind.
"No... I haven't said anything. We're all busy with the play, so I wanted to tell the president after everything's done." That was the least Eunchae could do. She wanted to be considerate. Maybe telling Sieun so early would cause the president to be stressed about it.
Maybe the thought of losing a member is too sensitive for Sieun to handle, so Eunchae hasn't said a word just yet.
The older girl stared at her for a few seconds. No words were coming out of her mouth. She was just looking at her with that expression. Like she was concerned. Curious, too.
"Are you sure you want to leave?"
Eunchae has never been asked that question before. Not even Kyujin has asked because she probably sounded so dead-set about her decision. Or maybe Kyujin never asked because she didn't want Eunchae to re-think everything. Maybe she didn't ask because she sounded so eager when she told her.
It only made Eunchae worry about her closest friend.
She looks down on the ground. Suddenly, she's not as sure anymore. Nowhere near certain, like she did when she told Kyujin about her plan to leave.
"Well, now that you asked me- I'm not so sure anymore." She laughs at the end of her sentence to lighten the atmosphere a bit.
But the look on Chaewon's face only made Eunchae realize that she did not lighten the mood. Not even a bit.
"Have you told..." Chaewon bites her lip, unsure as to why she was about to ask the question that suddenly popped into her head, "Have you told your cousin about it?"
"Yeah. She and Zuha unnie were the first few I told."
Chaewon hums, unsure of what to ask or say next.
"Of course, when they looked so worried, I immediately started rethinking everything." She laughs, "But in the end, I was still sure about what I was going to do."
Silence came after. Chaewon didn't know what to say. She didn't know if she was going to ask why she wanted to leave the club. They weren't that close. She didn't know if she was going to convince the younger girl not to. She felt she didn't have the right to do that.
So, in the end, she remained quiet.
She thinks Yunjin can do all of those. She can be the one to do all of those things.
