          KOL MIKAELSON HAD LOVED EIRA JOHANSEN SINCE THE SECOND THEIR EYES FIRST MET. They were only kids, Kol running into her while playing with Rebekah, not seeing Eira who was picking flowers around the edge of their village. She laughed it off with a toothy grin that would become one of his favourite things about her, and vowed in that moment he'd marry her one day, as she gently placed one of the brightest flowers she'd picked in his hair.
         
          WHEN EIRA JOHANSEN WAS TOLD SHE WAS BETROTHED TO KOL MIKAELSON, THE GIRL HAD NEVER BEEN MORE RELIEVED. After that first day they met, it had been hard to find a moment since they hadn't been at one another's side. It wasn't hard to see how in love the pair had become with one another, going from simple kids with crushes they didn't understand, to young adults promising each other to take on the world together. Eira had seen friends be married off to men they didn't love, no choice in the matter after their parents made the decision. So being told she is marrying someone she already loved deeply, it was like a weight lifting off of her chest.

          SO EIRA JOHANSEN BECAME EIRA MIKAELSON. The pair were happily married at first, ready to start their lives together, begin their own family. Then everything changed, and the once human couple became two of the world's first vampires, along with the rest of the Mikaelson siblings. Their promise of forever together truly became an eternity, but things were never going to be simple after that. After one of Kol's schemes threatens to leave them both with daggers in their chests, Kol makes Eira promise to run if anything goes wrong, refusing to let her end up in a coffin because of him. Despite not wanting to be without him, Eira kept her promise when everything took a turn for the worst, and ran far to avoid facing the same fate.

          EIRA MIKAELSON HAD A PLAN. She spent years searching, looking for a way to get back the man she loved, refusing to live eternity without him by her side. A letter from Elijah Mikaelson requesting her presence in Mystic Falls was never a part of the plan, especially not when it talked of a meal making peace with Klaus, but it was an opportunity she couldn't say no to.

          Even if it ended her within a coffin herself.
