Akira wouldn't want us to be sad, he may be gone, but that doesn't mean his legacy is over. It's up to us to make sure that Dragon Ball and all of his other work continues on. I believe he died knowing that he had faith that we would keep it alive. It's up to us as fans to continue where he left off. Akira Toriyama shall forever live on in our hearts.
