It's Complicated

If she could walk Cornelia Street again, alone... she could do this.

It felt empty without the cats running around, or friends pilling around her piano or kitchen table with glasses of wine and decks of cards laid out in a game to play. All the fun she had there was gone, sucked away. But Taylor knew that she couldn't reminisce for long. Blake was coming over with takeout for their bi-monthly girls night. Taylor knew that she most likely wouldn't see Blake before going back to Kansas City as Blake would be away filming her new movie that would be coming out next year. Plus if her nausea got any worse, Taylor would be spending all of her waking hours within the vicinity of her bathroom and toilet. Or at least somewhere with a convenient and designated sick bowl. That is what her and Travis had at home. He made the rookie mistake of nearly being sick one time in their kitchen in one of Taylor's nice mixing bowls she used for baking cakes and sweet treats. Taylor didn't know how she managed to shove Travis' head in the sink in time before he was violently sick. Turns out, kids daycare is a breading ground for the plague.

She heard a knock at the door and knew at once it must be Blake. Her security knew she was coming and they had an agreement that if it was someone like her parents, Travis, Blake, Selena or Abigail, they could just be let up without buzzing them in or alerting her. It was just easier and simpler for everyone that way. Blake would never be a threat to her in that way.

"Who is ready for wine night with the girls!" Blake shouted as she rounded the corner of the apartment into the living room area, one hand filled with a bottle of rose and the other with a bag of takeout. Something that smelt suspiciously like what used to be Taylor's favourite steakhouse. They did the most beautiful cheeseburgers and cajun fries, but at that point in time, it made her want to be sick. And so she was. Darting past her best friend, Taylor managed to make it to one of the bathrooms just in time for her to expel a mixture of bile and what had been an afternoon snack of some cashew nuts and a chocolate chip granola bar. Cleary noted that this baby wasn't a fan of nuts or seeds. Clearly took after Travis' love of the unhealthy foods annoyingly. In that moment Taylor wondered what other features of Travis the baby would inherit. Would it be his green eyes, or his warm heart. She knew it would be a big baby. Both of them were tall and Travis, as she could tell from baby photos that Donna had shared with her, was defiantly a larger baby. Her vagina winced at the thought of it. Were c-sections really that bad, because it seems to be the most viable option?

"Sorry about that Blake." Taylor apologised, re emerging moments later, wiping her mouth with a stray tissue she kept up her sleeve like an old grandmother. She came to sit down next to Blake on the sofa, unwrapping the burger Blake had bought for her and digging into it like a ravenous dog.

"Still feeling under the weather then?" Blake asked, taking a bite out of her own chicken burger. Taylor eyed her.

"Yeah, um you could say that." She replied nonchalantly, trying her best not to show her best friend her cards and give the game away.

"I totally understand you Tay. I was the exact same when I was first pregnant with James. The whole first trimester I was sick as a dog all day and all night. Ryan nearly had me hospitalised at one point but it gets better, trust me."

Taylor sat, mouth wide open as if some freight train would be passing through at any given point. She looked over at her friend on shock. it had been foolish of her to think that Blake wouldn't notice or guess something was up. She had of course been the one to convince Taylor to take the pregnancy test in the first place. But was it really that obvious?

"How did you know?" Taylor asked and Blake laughed heavily.

"Oh Tay, you think I wouldn't notice? I have four children myself, I know when someone is pregnant. And you my darling are defiently pregnant. You reek of pregnancy."
