You run
You hide
hide your scars
hide your fear
fear of darkness
fear of unknown
unknown noises
unknown shadows
shadows in moonlight
shadows chasing you
you scream out
you want someone
someone is coming
someone is close
close but unseen
close you can feel
feel their presence
feel their breath
breath that smells
breath that whispers
whispers in your ear
whispers to run
run where
run anywhere
anywhere quick
anywhere escape
escape the demons
escape the night
night is ending
night turns to day
day is your escape
day is your life
life that's happy
life of laughter
laughter from you
laughter for you
you forget
you act
act normal
act like others
others who don't know
others who don't see
see what happens
see the shadows
shadows only for you
shadows of them
them the killers
them in the night
