Hayes' POV

One loud knock on the door and a cry of pain sent me rushing to the hall.

Damon was holding his hand to him muttering a string of cuss words.

"Why the hell did you punch the door? That could have broken something in your hand, dumbass!"

I walked over to him but he didn't let me get close.

"I'm just going to look at your hand."

He held out his arm and I grabbed it, examining his hand.

His knuckles were already bruising and I cursed under my breath.

"I think you broke it."

"I did not. I've done that too many times to break it." He scoffed.

"Can you move your hand?"

He stretched out his hand but winced.

Well, now I know it's not broken.

"You're so fucking stupid!" I hissed.

He growled.

"I do as I feel, not as I think."

"I can tell." I rolled my eyes.

I called a nurse for ice and she brought a bag of ice then saw his hand.

"Oh my god! That could be broken. Give him to me! We need to check that out!"

"Fuck off lady, it's not broken, I just need ice." Damon seethed.

These hospital people were so overdramatic. Just looking for more money, I guess.

She handed him the ice and he held it on his knuckles.

With one last glare, the nurse walked off.

"I can't believe you did that."

"Well, if someone had just listened to me I wouldn't have."

"You're the one that said gays were disgusting! That wasn't me! I had a right to not listen to you!" My nostrils flared.

"I-I was... ugh!" He glared at anyone in the hall.

My heart sagged.

My throat became dry again and I stood up.

I started to walk away but Damon caught my wrist.

He pulled my back and crashed lips on mine.

His hands moved up and held my face.

My eyes closed and arms wrapped around his neck, all involuntarily.

He pushed his body against mine and to say I was aroused would be an understatement.

Someone cleared their throat and a nurse stared at us an obviously disgusted look sewn onto her face.

My phone buzzed and I looked at the notification from the news.

National Decision! States must license and recognize all same sex marriages!

My eyes widened and I showed my phone to Damon.

"D-do you see this? This is amazing! Our country has come so far! Thank god!" I grinned and Damon kissed me again.

I picked up both of his hands, being careful with the bruised one, and looked down at them.

My lips quirked up a little forming a small smile.

He smiled and winced slightly but continued to smile.
