The room was heavy with stifling tension, the aftermath of the recent exhibition casting a looming shadow over Daniel and I. Our strained relationship crackled with unspoken grievances as I confronted him, skepticism lacing my voice.
"What do you want, Daniel?" I demanded, cutting through the thick silence.
Daniel's sigh carried the weight of his weariness as he searched my eyes for understanding. "Shy, I get it. You don't trust me. But you need to listen to me, please."
A bitter chuckle escaped my lips, a bitter reminder of his unreliable nature. "You're right, Daniel. You haven't exactly built a reputation for reliability." I said ignoring his plea.
The air between us grew heavier as Daniel leaned forward, "This isn't a fucking game, Shy. There are things you need to understand." He shouted in an emotional outburst.
I crossed my arms defensively, "Then enlighten me," I retorted.
"We can't talk here, come me to the velvet lounge please." He begged softly.
My immediate response mirrored my reluctance to trust him. "Are you fucking insane? I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Why not, I'm trying to protect you, why won't you let me protect you." He said in between sobs.
"Tears? Daniel you can't be serious, the last time I trusted you I nearly died." I stated coldly
"I know but, I-I can't live with myself if something happened to you and did nothing. Not this time so please just come with me to the lounge." He confessed
Against my better judgment I agreed, as we prepared to leave I texted my siblings.

I felt my phone buzzing endlessly, I knew they were pissed but I wouldn't leave him in that state. We made our way through the bustling city, the sun beginning to set, painting the sky a beautiful pinkish color. We walked in silence, I'd occasionally glance over to make sure Daniel was ok.
"Can't keep your eyes off me huh." He joked
"Don't flatter yourself, I'm just making sure you're okay." I responded
"It's okay, I know I look good." He laughed
I rolled my eyes and walked ahead of him, "hey I was just kidding." He said sincerely
"Look man I didn't agree for you to joke around. Ten minutes ago you were crying and begging me to come with you now you're fine and making jokes." I said frustrated
"I got it, I just wanted to lighten the mood." Daniel replied
After walking for twenty minutes we finally made it to the lounge. Its dim lights a stark contrast to the city's. Walking inside the aroma of warm coffee welcomed me, a welcoming breeze wafted over me. "Welcome to the Velvet lounge would, you like a booth?" The hostess questioned.
"Yes please." Daniel replied
She ushered for us to follow her, leading us to a booth in the back. "Is there anything I can get you to drink?" She questioned
