Script 17: Thrown Words

Start from the beginning

But only Chaewon noticed it. At least, that's what she thinks.

No one pointed it out until Minju nudged her.

"She's worried."

"I know," Chaewon whispers as she intertwines her fingers with Minju's.

"Do you want me to check up on her?" Minju asks, and Chaewon bites her lower lip. She's not sure what to do...

"Let's..." she looks up at Minju, "Let's not."

Chaewon felt like she shouldn't have said that. Maybe she should have let Minju check up on Yunjin... maybe she should have done it herself, even.

Because Yunjin looked tired and weak. Something was wrong, and Chaewon knew she could have been doing something to at least help.

But she didn't.

She couldn't.

And Yunjin remains silent.

——

A few days passed by, and the air was heavy. Yunjin has been nowhere to be seen for the past few days, and no one knows where she is.

People say she attends classes every day... People say she's very diligent and is also present and never late for every class.

But weirdly enough, she attends every class and every schedule she has, but not the theater club.

Students say they see her hanging around the women's basketball team.

Outside the campus, in the gymnasium, and out in the field during lunch. It was weird that Yunjin would start skipping the theater club.

It was weirder that Yunjin would always be present.

It was truly weird to see Yunjin outside of club hours, looking away and avoiding Chaewon's judging gaze.

She has caught the younger girl off guard, and now she refuses to let Yunjin escape.

"You've been skipping for days."

Yunjin shrugs, and Chaewon scoffs, "What are you even doing?"

Yunjin shrugs again. Chaewon finds her ridiculous.

"Are you going to keep shrugging and avoiding my questions?"

As Chaewon had expected, the younger girl shrugs once again. Chaewon was starting to get irritated by her half-assed responses.

She reaches out and slaps Yunjin on the shoulder, "Speak up, damn it."

The younger girl refuses to speak. She even refuses to meet Chaewon's gaze.

"I may look mad, but I'm not." Chaewon sighs, "Okay, I am mad... kind of."

She watched as Yunjin's head slowly moved and faced her, but her eyes were looking everywhere but at Chaewon's.

"Just... explain to me why you've been skipping the club..."

Yunjin sighs as she fiddles with her clothes, "It's nothing."

There it was again. That half-assed answer that Chaewon was starting to hate.

"Are you sure? You know, you can start telling me things... we're friends now, right?" Yunjin finally meets her eyes then.

It was as if a switch had been turned, and Yunjin's eyes were literally sparkling. Her eyes looked hesitant, but they were really sparkling.

Chaewon was amused. She was taken aback and was also really amused.
