Last night was a blast
For one, I packed my suitcase by myself
it's not like I'm lazy or anything, it's just not..... my thing
And two, I did it with Alex
And she enjoyed it
She didn't find my proposal weird
She just went with the flow
And it just felt so...... natural
I just pulled up in front of her house in my black Audi R8
I walk up to her front door
Wait. Should I call her and tell her to come out or should I just go in
Would she want me to come in?
You know what just fuck it
I take a step forward and ring the doorbell
A few seconds later I hear footsteps approaching and then the door opens
" Hey, Good morning"
Her mum
Wow she looks just like Alex
" Good morning ma'am, I'm Jake, here for Alex"
" Wait.. you're Jake..." She drawls seemingly thinking "The vice mayor's son, Jake Redman?" She asks
" Yes, nice to meet you ma'am"
" You too, come in"
" Thank you"
" Alex is upstairs but she'll be down soon, or you want to go up?"
" No no, I'll just wait here, I don't want to intrude or anything "
" Okay then, make yourself at home " she said smiling then walked away
So I just sit down and wait
" Jake Redman " my head immediately shoots up at the sound of my name
What is it with this people and my full name
I see a boy, scrawny, should be about 16
Wait Noah
" Hey Noah " I greet him
And he looks stunned
" You know my name" he finally responds then mutters something to himself that I choose to ignore
" Alex talks about you"
" She does? " He asks confused " wait are you two dating"
Huh?
" Noah " I hear Alex call his name so I turn towards the stairs to see her glaring at her brother
Getting to us she smacks his head at the backside
" Of course, who would date my sister " he grumbles
" Don't say that, Alex is amazing" I reiterate
"Aww " he cooes
" Don't play into his games, he's just trying to butter you up " Alex finally says to me
" I don't care, I like him "
" Great, so I'll go pack my suitcase it'll only take a minute"
What?!!!
" No" Alex and I both say in unison
" No? But he just said he likes m-"
" You leaving already " Their mum, Mrs Hart, cuts him off
" Yeah mum we are "
"Okay take care of yourself baby " she says patting Alex's hair then she turns to me " Jake please take care of my daughter "
" Mum" she says in a whiny tone " you don't have to say that, I can very well take care of myself "
We both ignore her and I still respond nonetheless " I will ma'am " I say smiling knowing that she somewhat trusts me
" We'll be back on Sunday okay mum"
" Okay, I love you baby"
" Love you too mum"
The three exchange goodbyes, I take her stuff to the car, we settle in and then I drive off
We sit in silence for a while until I break it
" We're using a plane"
"Yeah I know"
" We're here" I say as we arrive right on cue
I pulled out the first class tickets I booked for us
Then hand to my chauffeur waiting for me " take it back home" I tell him and he nods
Then I and Alex walk into the airport
When she sees our tickets she looks momentarily stunned but then quickly masks it up and continues walking

We're at Greensville now, riding to our hotel
Alex has been pretty excited
Like obviously excited
And that's rare
She took pictures, selfies and even did some with me in it
We arrive at the hotel
Getting to the receptionist
" Redman" I say curtly
" Wow, this place is pretty" Alex chimes in
" Yeah I know, feels so green and... natural " I respond to her my tone a bit sarcastic and she just rolls her eyes
She's about to say something when the receptionist interrupts
" Room 104, 7th floor " she says
" Right thank you"
I turn to Alex " let's go? "
" Yeah let's go"
Opening our room, the porters drop our stuff
" We're staying in the same room" Alex asks " a really beautiful room " she adds while looking around
I scratch the back of my neck subconsciously nervous
" I just thought it'll be better since we'd probably be working in late" I say trying to explain why we'd have to share a room coz honestly I myself didn't even think it through " plus they're two beds and lots of space" I say motioning around " we'd probably not even have to speak to each other, that is if you don't want to, it's just-"
" Jake" she says cutting off my rambling
Honestly I didn't even get a word out of what I just said
" It's fine, I'm so grateful" she adds with a very very small almost invisible smile
But I still caught on to it
I exhale a breathe I didn't even realize I was holding in and then smile back
" No need to thank me"
" I didn't "

We went around town today, doing research
It was basically like sight seeing
But whatever
We went to the ruins of the colony
She took some notes
Looked around
Went to the library
And I just followed her around like some lost little puppy mesmerized by a treat while holding her stuff
So in total my day was awesome
And now we're back to the hotel sitting cross legged opposite each other
" Or maybe they all turned into zombies, I mean I did see a very well equipped lab"
And that's the third crazy idea she's come up with as to why the colony is abandoned
I sigh then respond
" I don't think so Lexi that's just too random"
" Well they've got to be a reason"
" The place got burnt okay, so it's just probably a freak accident" I reason
And she just shrugs " Eh whatever"
" Pizza ? "
" Definitely, I'm starving"
