Because who in their right mind would fight with a drunk person? You can never win against them. Not when they're not in their right state of mind.
Chaewon scoffs.
"I slightly care about my egg baby partner. Who knows, maybe you have the egg in your pocket right now." Chaewon knows that was such a bad excuse.
She was hiding the fact that she was worried. But she knew that Yunjin was drunk and she probably wouldn't be able to properly process any of it at the moment.
Yunjin only chuckles and she hides her face in both of her arms.
"The egg isn't in my pocket at all, you can leave now."
But Chaewon doesn't leave. She refuses to leave. She doesn't know why she isn't leaving and she doesn't know why she's staying either. She lets the unknown emotions take over her and she stays.
Listening to the sound of the waves. Letting herself get lulled by it.
"I find it funny that Kazuha used to like me."
"I find it funny as well," Yunjin responds, slowly looking up to watch the waves as the water comes crashing against the dock's wooden legs.
"Doesn't sound like you found it funny. It doesn't even look like you enjoyed the game." Chaewon points out.
Yunjin hums, "I mean, she got rejected even if she didn't like you anymore. I found that hilarious..."
Chaewon sarcastically laughs, "Sure."
Then silence took over them. None of them were talking. Normally, Chaewon would have left if this happened, especially when she was with Yunjin.
But she's still there, beside Huh Yunjin, with her arms resting on the railings like Yunjin.
"You like someone else, then?" Yunjin suddenly broke the comforting silence.
She didn't sound drunk, she sounded tired and sleepy. Her voice is a bit shaky and soft. Chaewon almost didn't hear her.
"That's what I said, yeah."
"Who is it?" Yunjin wished it was her.
She was lying with these questions. She knew who it was that Chaewon liked. She didn't need Chaewon to tell her outright and confirm it for her.
It was obvious. And it was painfully clear that it wasn't Yunjin.
"An old friend." Chaewon huffs, "I thought I didn't like her anymore. She left and it hurt me, leading to our separation. But now she's back in my life and I... yeah, I like her, still."
Chaewon isn't entirely sure why she said all these things to Yunjin. Maybe she was just humoring a drunk Yunjin.
Or maybe it was because she knew Yunjin was drunk and she was not the normal Yunjin that she hated.
Or maybe it was because Yunjin had stopped being the "normal" Yunjin that Chaewon despised.
It may be one of those reasons but right now Chaewon doesn't know.
Yunjin doesn't say anything for a while. She could feel her throat tightening and it was harder to breathe. Her eyes were stinging but she didn't let any tears fall.
She doesn't let any of her emotions through. Maybe talking to Chaewon while drunk was a bad idea. Alcohol makes her more emotional.
"You must like them so much then... to still like someone after they have left is..." she stops for a second before continuing, "A lot."
