Script 15: Take another shot

Start from the beginning

Yunjin has always been like this. Eunchae remembers seeing Yunjin's old poems. Old song lyrics. And no matter how many times Eunchae read them, she'd still be amazed each time.

"Then you must be sad about something else." Yunjin chuckles. Eunchae had caught on.

"Everything has just been so frustrating. Sunghoon and Sakura know about my feelings... Kazuha and I got into a fight and Chaewon's..." she stops and sighs.

"Chaewon seems to be living her best life." She looks at the sun then at the ocean and then down on the sand. "She has great friends, she's doing what she loves... she's talking to someone she loves... I know I shouldn't be sad about that. I should be really happy... but it's just sad to see that I can never have a spot in her life."

Eunchae felt her heart break for her cousin. This is the first time in a while that Yunjin has opened up about this.

She acted as if everything was nothing to her when she came back. Like nothing affected her at all.

But that was proving to be false when Yunjin was like this in front of her—broken and crumbling down. She was vulnerable, yet she still looked confident and strong.

Eunchae admires Yunjin for being so strong.

"I can never put myself in the narrative of her life. Well, I can but-" she huffs, "If I were a part of it, her life wouldn't be this happy."

Eunchae wanted to prove Yunjin wrong but how would she do that if Chaewon literally hates her? It was something Eunchae couldn't help with.

So she settles with being there for Yunjin.

"I don't think you need to insert yourself into something that would complicate things, unnie. I honestly think you're doing just fine on your own." She smiles up at Yunjin, "We're here. You're already in a narrative that you fit in."

Yunjin smiled even wider. She would forever be thankful for having Eunchae in her life.

Maybe she'll be alright like this.

But the sadness was still there. Gnawing at the back of her heart. Making it sting. Making it hurt...

She wonders if she'll ever be able to give up on Kim Chaewon.

It's as if the hours were passing by really fast and suddenly it was night once more.

Everyone thought it would be a good idea to start a campfire in the middle of the beach. But everyone knew it would be too boring with just that.

So they wanted to play a drinking game.

It honestly astounded Eunchae at how they all were willing to ruin their livers for fun. She wouldn't know. She can't relate.

She has yet to touch alcohol in her life and she was willing for it to stay that way.

Kyujin seems to feel the same way anyway. She'd have someone to avoid alcohol with.

They both think drinking juice is better anyway. Juice and coffee. The smell of alcohol alone makes their stomach turn.

It was just something that would truly make you throw up without even having to drink it.

Despite their strong opinions about the scrumptious drink, they stay for the campfire. Roasting marshmallows on sticks and just generally hanging out with the other students.

They step aside after they are done roasting marshmallows. Everyone had already taken out all the alcohol, getting ready to start their fun little game for the night.
